I remember back in the 90s ,the company i worked for was doing work at an old factory to condo conversion! So we were installing two 50 gal and two 100 gallon water heaters,I asked why all the places were getting such big heaters! My foreman looked at me and said these are all for the same condo! 6,000 sq ft and not his primary residence,it was for when he came in on the weekends! Crazy
@leoashrae41992 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve. Great video by the way. I've been doing some contract work at a local condo and so far I've installed 19 of these American Standard 2514101.020 toilets. The first one was a learning experience but, after that I haven't had too much trouble at all. The best tip I can pass on is to fab your supply BEFORE you mount the tank permanently, and then make your tank-side connection tight before you fish the line down through the hole in the bowl. I found that all the parts provided with the toilet were pretty much all I needed. I did the first four with flexible braided stainless supply lines but, then the primary contractor came back and provided me with some brass-valve Kohler ridged compression tube kits (wish the dick-head had provided those BEFORE I had the first four done). I had to take out everything from the nipple to the tank on the first four toilets (including taking the tank off again), but it isn't hard to pre-bend the compression supply riser, tighten it on the tank, and fish it down through the hole in the bowl. I made up a sacrificial riser tube that I bent (and kinked) all to hell to get the length and the bends right... then copied that pattern with new tube when I hooked up the tank for the last time. It's probably something that we're going to see more of in the future. Just another thing we have to add to the skill set.

Some of those toilet encapsulate the shut off valve, you need to rough it in 3 inches off center leaves just enough room to get two fingers on it.... people don't want to see the shut off, I hope the supply pipe blows in 6 months... good luck shutting it off.

@Handyman247llc2 жыл бұрын
I have installed many American Standard toilets like that one. Grant you the water supply line was an issue and frustrating, but the toilet is an easy and clean install. One thing you might consider is to use the waxless closet flange rings. Even if you have to remove the toilet again there is no mess to clean up. Yes they are little more out the door cost, but not having to deal with the wax is ok with me. Nice video

Yes, it is a nice looking toilet. I wanted to see it flush though. Good thing that bath wasn't plumbed with PEX as there may not have been enough to use. I think the new front load washer/dryers do have a stack hardware set that allows the dryer to sit over the top of the washer. It's an accessory bag of hardware for those who want them inside a closet or similar to reduce used horizontal space

The toilet is open at the back because the whole unit is designed to sit flush up against the wall, there shouldnt be any gaps behind it. The issue is the sewer pipe is too far forward..... and the water feed is too central.
