Leather fragrances in general are quite niche. This has more of your typical Tom ford DNA. Wood, amber and smoke. So you have more of a spiced note with leather in the background. This will probably appeal to more people.

This is my favorite Tom ford fragrance hands down. I sprayed this on my arm at 3pm est took a shower at 8pm. After my shower I still smelled it on my arm. The performance is amazing. This and Sole blanc is my favorite.

I no longer have any tolerance for fragrances that don't last. Prices keep going up and if you fail in longevity department I will not purchase it. There is no longer an excuse to have fragrances not last longer than 6 hours with the prices we're paying now.

@@skye1868 I disagree and I’ll say why. Since reformulations I can attest that when conducting tests on friends and random strangers they consistently say the same thing. That is when smelling older batches to newer batches of the same fragrance they consistently say that the newer ones don’t really smell as strong or are barely noticeable compared to the older batches after an hour of spraying. In my case I have got them to sample both Initio Side effects as well as La nuit de L’homme and without them knowing prior to smelling what I am testing for, they just comment that the older batches are stronger and more noticeable. It’s only until after they smell do I tell them, that way, you can’t blame the placebo effect or power of suggestion.

Everyone’s skin is completely different from oils to hormones to sweat to age. This performs beastly on my skin, it has a huge leather opening for the first two hours or so then mellows down to a nice leather/vanilla. On me it’s a winner, I love it! It’s like a mix of Tuscan leather and tobacco vanille but at an affordable price. “It smells nothing like ombré leather”…. Well… go buy ombré then….

I'm surprised at your response. I have worn this twice now, and found it last really long on my skin. I did only one spray on my wrist. I also enjoy it's departure from the original Ombre leather. It's a unique scent.

I have been sampling many fragrances and this one clicked with me incredibly well. I love Ombre Leather and Eau D'Ombre Leather has impressed me. I am getting much better performance than your experience. About 6-8 hours on skin. After sampling this scent 4-5 times, I bought a 3.4 oz bottle.

Chris, I appreciate your insight, but I’d urge you to revisit this in a couple months with an open mind. I absolutely flipped for this and bought it full price on the spot after one spray (and I NEVER do that). I wasn’t a huge fan of the original even though I own a bottle. Eau Forte, Eau D'Ombre, some other fragrances that didn't have an EDT getting one... Apparently they exausted the trend of releasing proggressively (allegedly) stronger concentrations, and started asking themselves why weren't they releasing weaker, cheaper products, with the higher price tags of the (again, allegedly) stronger concentrations. Stonks.

Watched the vid a few days ago, and then went to sample it today at Sephora, and now im back with my personal experience! And like you say in the video, it has been about 2 hrs and idk if i have gone noseblind to the projection, but i can only notice it up close on a sniff of my wrist. as much as i like the notes, performance goes to the OG one for me, and THATS the one im going to go with. Hopefully Tom Ford and co. end up fixing this, maybe this batch hasnt macerated enough, who knows? but i know the original will be the one im going with.

I'd never really tried Tom Ford fragrances before until the last week or so! I tried this version of OL first and loved the opening, but after a few hours it was boring me. Grey Vetiver (EDP) on the other hand, that will be my next purchase! Also going to try some of the Private Blend line when I'm next in Selfridges.

I almost bought this travel size one but the price turned me off. I sprayed my wrist 3 times and was shocked how weak and faint this one is. I have said that on a lot of my fragrances, first time you use some fragrance they seems very weak. Give it some time, 1-2 weeks and after maceration it becomes a whole lot better

You gave me hope I didnt waste my money. I blindbought this one because the scent profile based on the notes and reviews was 100% my thing. First 30 seconds I was very disappointed because all I could smell was just leather, like the same as ombre leather which I am not big fan of. After a minute it started to open up wonderfully and I fell in love, for sure it´s the best smelling fragrance I ever bought and even smelled, it´s totally my kind of scent. The next 30 minutes were wonderful and then it started to get softer with less and less leather, very cosy, extremely sexy. In an hour it was completely just weak skin scent, but very pleasant, mostly vanilla, not much leather. In 3 hours I literally dont smell anything. Nothing, I cant even tell there was a fragrance on my arm and I sprayed my arm like 10-15times. I had weak fragrances that got stronger with a bit of time, but never this weak. I really hope it changes into atleast 3 hours so it might have some usage. Definitely signature scent worthy smell, but the longevity kills it. Smell 10/10, longevity 0/10, cant even give it one 😢 Edit - was a bit harsh, I was a bit sick and my sense of smell was perhaps compromised, I wore it yesterday and today and the performance felt much better, not good but any means, but yesterday It felt like it projected for two hours and then was a pleasant close to skin smell for another 3, today it had about 3 hours projection and now after more than 6 hours it still sits very nice close to the skin. It´s not good, but it´s usable, subtle, intimate, but It will definitely have a use. Scent 10/10, Projection&longevity 3/10

I bought this flanker when it was exclusively being sold at the Abu Dhabi Duty Free prior to being launched anywhere else. The reason i bought it was to have all the flankers of Ombre Leather since i already own the other two. On my skin I find it difficult for fragrances to perform. I have over 275 in my collection and the ones i think would perform land up being a disappointment and vice versa often. Eau D’Ombre seems to last about 6-7 hrs on my skin. I would recommend anyone considering purchasing to try it on their skin before diving into it

I would've been like, "yeah, n'eau." 😆 Six sprays for a testing though min. Olfactory fatigue also a factor with many woody ambers, so that could be part of it, but leave it to conglomerates to bank on cost-savings. They did away with the exterior finish after all. Appreciate your input Chris!

To me, the opening is all like ozone. This release is offensively stupid following two absolute bangers. The parfum I layer a small mist every day on top of Thomas Kasmala no 4 edp and that combo is a compliment monster.

I would take this review with a pinch of salt and test for yourself. I tested in duty free and it out performed everything I spayed, designer and niche. I wasn’t expecting it to do that, or linger for as long as it did. I landed in Italy which was 36 degrees and it was still around my nose to the point the sweetness was making me nauseous. Wrong fragrance for the temperature without question. It’s definitely a more vanilla woody version of ombré leather, almost gourmand leaning. For me personally it performed and smelt lovely.

I don't think that lasting for a 'few hours' is a bad thing, that's great if you want to wear something for the morning or first part of your day and then move on to something else. Much more concerned with novelty of the accord, quality of materials, aesthetics of the smell. (And more expensive materials does not imply greater diffusivity or tenacity automatically, those are separate things.)

Really like your content. Tom Ford was my way in to niche, but don't you think the brand has lost its way? The adverts now don't even have Tom Ford's voice over, so is he even creatively steering the brand anymore? I can't remember the last TF release I was excited about. This lasts consistently over 12-16 hours on my skin with 1 small spray from a tiny tester bottle. Its to the point where i think if you sprayed over 3 sprays of this stuff you'd be stinking far too strong. This fragrance survives high heat, sweating, & even going swimming. Perhaps the testers they give out are deliberately stronger?

It’s not for me the dry down is nice but opening burst smells like candles very vanilla and would make me sick using it daily or even once a week. Only to be rewarded with an average projection & longevity once you get past the opening. The new eau Sauvage & eau d’hombre are a huge let down.

Literally just picked my 100ml up from Boots a couple hours ago, Chris, £107 and I picked it up to save on the delivery cost. So far I’m really quite impressed, not just with the scent itself, but with the actual handful of ladies who complimented me wondering around Sainsbury’s for the wife’s wine after I’d hastily ripped it open and sprayed in the car soon as I could! Even the checkout lady said to me “there’s no rush going through my love, I’m really enjoying this scent you’ve brought with you”! Of course she asked what I was wearing, and I told her 👍🏼 The wife likes it, too. Ultimately, I love it, but! I still really just prefer the original ombré leather mate, more leather jacket wearing rebel frag which I simply have a love for! I’ll continue to brave wearing this in the heat here in halifax… which could be risky 🤔 By the way, does it remind you of a certain Valentino frag?

Lots of people want a dark leathery smell. It's a rebellious smell. Masculine, edgy. Usually you want the leather mixed with some other ingredients that compliment it and make it a full fragrance like spices, resins, incense etc.
