Great review Emma. I just ordered one from Amazon $74.00. I've been wanting a shop calculator for a long time but never got around to it. You gave me a push to do it.

That is a very useful tool. And you can get it as a cell phone download or as a stand alone calculator. Thanks for the review Emma.

great little calculator.. I thought it looked familiar .. I have the construction master IV made by the same people. your right it is a pricey bit of kit. but I have had mine for 20 years or so and it is still going.. very good on the demo of the calc as well .. Hope to see you at the bash again provided i can raise enough money

When you press convert to mm or inches you do not need to convert, convert activates the yellow text above, in this case arc cos or sine, only works Because you need a arc value first, but if that was different like many other conversion (conv) button . You can also download the ios version for 29.99 and does everything . I have both and rely on both though out my day at work .

That looks like a very useful tool Emma. Fwiw I made a point of buying the Machinery's Handbook on CD. That allows printing out any table at a fairly large size that your ever likely to use in your shop for whatever type of work your usually doing. Finding the data sheets for BA and M.E. threads isn't hard to find on the net either. I keep all those in a shop 3 ring binder for easy reference. That Machinist Calc plus the MH CD would make a great combination I think. For those that don't already know it, any calculator can easily convert any fraction to a decimal number with just a few key strokes. Divide the upper number of the fraction by the lower number and you instantly get the decimal number. Example, 47/64ths 47 divided by 64 = .734375" and then X 25.4 = 18.653125 mm if the metric dimension is what is wanted. While I've got a couple of wall hanging decimal and metric equivalent charts in my shop, most times it's faster to just use the calculator than walk across the room and look at the numbers for the one's I don't have memorized.

Good review. I have used SI all my life in the UK. A new project has castings and design drawings in imperial. Comes of buying from a company that has been trading for over a century. So this will be a very useful tool indeed.

We have the calc pro2 each and one other thing we love we have it all on our cell phones as well never an issue doing our math around here. Nice topic to share Carson City whee the Carson City Silver dollars were made a long time ago now.

What does it do if you enter adjacent -4, opposite 3? Or if you enter angle 143.13011 degrees, hypotenuse 5? I think the feature is called right angle solutions. Enter any 2 knowns and it'll give the other 2 out of opp, adj, hyp, angle buttons. I have the TI 84. I made a program that does the full circle. Otherwise I would buy one and find out for myself. I want to teach hobbyists to use the rotary table with the machinest calc. I would be thankful.

I had the first version and it took me years of abuse to kill it ! I was gutted ! Thought about buying a new one but with the Aussie dollar where it is the conversion factor and shipping sort of made me think twice . I had an old iPad floating around so i loaded up some apps that get me by but it is not as convenient as the machinists calc to use and a bit hard to fit in your pocket ! The only thing that i thought would be nice is for it to have BA & ME threads on it but as they are really only used in model engineering i think it would be a fairly useless feature for most users .
