Because it's an EMU. (The motors are inside the train itself.) The older trains had two locomotives, that is why they look longer. I'm pretty sure for passenger size they are the same.

Yes and no, the old train had 500 seats. While a single icng has 400 seats. However the icbg can (and will) run coupled with another icng, giving it a capacity of 800 seats!

The ICNG B is shorter and has about 80 fewer seats than the old pulled Benelux wagons. But the ICNG B does have more legroom because the train is built much more efficiently. The ICNG B has only one bogie and one door per side. The ICNG B now has 413 seats, this could be much more if the seats were all installed in airplane style. Now there is much more variation of face-to-face seating and lounge benches.
