Would I get an upgrade just replacing the speakers without an extra Amp?

Yes this will improver the sound but honestly not give the same results as the factory power output limits itself at around 17 to 20 on the volume level and also takes the bass away as you may be hearing. However if you upgrade the speakers and properly soundproof the doors this will definatly better the sound and allow you at a later date to add on the amp if you need more.
