This summer before my sophomore year of high school, my trumpet mouthpiece that was the newest at the time (the older 3C in this video) got stuck in my trumpet. Of course, being young and uneducated, my first thought was to try and use a vice grip to pull it out. This resulted in all of the scratches and dents that are on the older mouthpiece. (Not including several scratches from it falling out of my trumpet during marching band rehearsals.) Therefore, the pre-existing scratches from that incident did result in my sound being affected, even if it wasn’t a very significant change. The newer mouthpiece does have a noticeably different tone because I don’t have to adjust my mouthpiece to get a consistent sound.

The newer mouthpiece sounded much better in my opinion! Much clearer tone, I can't wait to get my Bach 3c!
