Not using any kicks with Bas Rutten is criminal! 🤣 the reason he has a Stockton slap is because he used to fight in Pancrase Hybrid Wrestling. The fighters were allowed to strike each other but they were only allowed to do so with an open hand. Absolute MMA legend and had his career cut short due to injury.

bas rutten was one of the first guys to use liver shots effectively in mma he was obviously very skilled as you can tell by the stats he was just in other promotions other than the ufc at the time of his prime because they were more successful. one of the few heavyweight fighters who was good anywhere the fight took place

It hurts my heart to hear that you’re not familiar with Bas Rutten, but you can fix that really easily! His official KZbin channel has his entire career in full, start to finish, aside from his UFC fights (which was only 2-3). To make it even better he commentates over the fights himself. That’s where most people know Bas from: commentating for Pride FC. He and Stephen Quadros and then Mauro Ranallo were the commentators for almost a decade. Bas happens to be an absolute pioneer. Highly recommend you check out his striking early on, and then the way he was able to get so good at submissions.

Jens Pulver was the first UFC Lightweight Champion. This weight class used to be called Bantamweight in fact. He won against Caol Uno at UFC 30 to become the first lightweight champion. I would say that one of his most notable wins is against BJ Penn. He was a fairly good fighter who was very scrappy if that makes any sense. He had 2 title defenses and his biggest fight streak was 6 wins. He had his time in Pride and WEC as well as appearing as a Coach in The Ultimate Fighter 5 in which he trained Nate Diaz. At the end of his career he sadly had a bad losing streak and retired officially in 2014. He was officially put into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2023 and you can actually see his reaction during a livestream it’s on KZbin, very wholesome. He is a pioneer of UFC and I believe his stats are deserving for the game.

Pride Shogun was definitely better. He was in his prime. If you guys ever want to see the greatest mma tournament that has ever been assembled, it's that one the 2003 Pride Grand Prix. And Shogun destroyed everyone. The 2010 version is the one that knocked out Chuck Liddell. He was still good, but had several knee surgeries since the Pride days. He knocked out guys like Chuck, Rampage, and Alistar Overeem.
