"Ridiculous" (bad titled) but *Marvelous!!* I like the dark themes but in low contrast (for icons and _font,_ sp.), it's practically impossible in other programs (except VSCodium, for example). Now in Inkscape that's a reality 😍

I believe the title wanted to be "ridiculously good" (still can be edited), as in extremely good (amazingly good, incredibly good...). As it reads now, I was a bit shocked as it totally gave me the impression that it was going to be a very negative video about the hard work these people make... A lot of YT (we're a so varied bunch!) people don't "read"/understand the emoticons (specially at certain resolutions, or at the speed they check stuff....) so, won't translate the "mind blowing" thingy...

1.2 is a really strong update, the only problem with inkscape is slow page rendering when transforming objects, scrolling, etc.

What really is missing is being able to create a custom button for a particular menu option. For example I use clipping tool all the time and there is no shortcut in the keyboard and the button is deep dans le object menu... Would be nice to have easy/fast accès to it.

This is available - under Interface, Keyboard. You just have to find what you are looking for. Clipping is under Object

You said in your video. You don't understand font scale. You have to click apply button after setting font scale number. Then you can see changes.

I assume It is a new way that content creators have found (many are doing it) to increase traffic. Surely as there's a portion of the audience that might be ok with watching a shorter video, or about an specific matter than the full thing. Also a way to highlight the different chapters of the larger content that would be missed by many no having the time to sit and watch or listen to a longer video. IMO, shorts (which are successful for many, and a counter to tiktok) are an extreme version of this, and there also plays a role the meme culture. I'm all for the good creators to do whatever they need to do to grow (obviously I desire the growth of the ones which I am subscribed to).

I prefer the older 0.92 version of the icons but I cannot get that icons.svg file to be accessible in the inkscape theme tab in order to use them. Why the frell did they make this software so that it is a pain in the a** to change the views from one mode to another and I cannot get it to go to the default mode like it had before 1.0? The longer they screw with it the harder they make it to use.

They didn't allow the icon size in dialog box to be set, and its not a 4k monitor problem, the icons are tiny. you can't see what they are unless you get up close to the screen.

for anyone wondering what is ridiculous: the fact that you can change the size of the icon but not the size of poiter, so on a 4k monitor it is ridiculously small

"Really more customizable than in any program"!? -- Not convinced about that statement TBH... I came to this video because I wanted to add "undo" and "redo" button to the toolbar (the one that goes along the top of the page horizontally), but as far as I can tell you can only edit the 15 or so icons down the left hand side 😔

Nice. But the changing and customiziation is not not well thought out. Look at the left panel. You make the icons bigger, cause they are really tiny, but the space which they need is not changing. The icons disapear into left nirvana. There a lot more nconsistencies like this.

Wait, is there a part of the video that got cut off? All I see is fanfare over some mediocre choices in a very hardcoded UI. CorelDraw had infinitely more toolbar customization in version 6 already and that was literally 27 years ago. Call me old fashioned but UI customization should involve a little more than adding or removing a small number of buttons from a singular toolbar and changing the UI's colour.

You can open the UI files in glade and redesign the whole app if you want.

@@doctormo - Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look into that. I, however, still think it's pretty pathetic that in-app WYSIWYG customization, which was commonplace more than 2 decades ago, now appears to be a monumental feat.

@@Maxume It's a tradeoff. You can have more time spent on packing widgets, embedding what would be a full glade editor into the project. Or time spent on features, or fixes. etc. Of course with enough money it's possible to do both. But in the meantime, I've spent most of my time just delivering on the core changes that matter to my sponsors so far.
