I have had my 160 for three weeks now and I like it. It is like the 125 but with a couple of differences, the 160 doesn't have close call but it has the dmr and nxdn receive capability, and a band scope, like the Yaesu VR500 and other. You can download software from Uniden for programming for free and it works well. Dmr works, but there can be some annoying stops for a second or less when scanning dmr channels. That can depend on how far away you are from the transmitter if the radio don't hear the transmitter well. It decodes well and I think the audio is good. I have a 125 and a 3600 too among others and receiving with the 160 with same antenna as the 125 is equal in my ears. I have not tried decoding nxdn because I don't know anyone the use that mode nearby.

A clarification on the short hiccups it have when scanning dmr, I think it is because the radio don't hear the transmitter 100% and stops when it hears a dmr signal but don't decode it due to low signal strength. Some day I will go to the site where the dmr transmitters are and try when being close. I still like it!

Yes ref that stopping and scanning while tx is taking place, found that as well and I can be o top of the signal or further away, I don't understand that one second hits and as it's then suddenly it hits for a second, scans again No close call is a big loss though at airshow yesterday display freq wasn't one if the usual 6 or so CAA allocation and tower were simply saying switch to display Close call got 118.9166 straight away

I have the 125 and I really like it, but I agree that the speaker lets the unit down.

One difference between the BC125AT and this new one (in the USA) is the 125 I have does not cover the 223-225 Mhz band which is used for ham radio in the USA. But the 160 does have that band. Now I noticed your comparison is for the UBC125XLT and my unit is a BC125AT. So the XLT might cover that band. But this does no good in the UK at all. But as a ham radio operator here in in the states I like to scan the 220 ham band and I do use it. I talked to someone here in Utah just the other day on 223.500 simplex. Some of us here in Utah are trying to get more hams back on 220 band again. I'll have to check the difference (if any) between the UBC125XLT and the BC125AT. Possibly just a difference between Europe/UK version and the USA? I'm headed to google now. But I do know that the new 160DN covers the 220 ham band so I'm going to get it. I have two ham HTs that cover that band but it would be nice to have a receive-only scanner that gets it too. For hams, using a scanner to listen to VHF/UHF ham bands saves battery power on our transceivers. So it's nice to just listen for a call, if anyone calls you, switch from your scanner to your ham HT!! Wow, I just wrote an entire novel so I'll stop now.

Got the 160 3 weeks ago the reception is horrible. The programming is not new user friendly. It is not compatible with the Uniden sentinel program, according to Uniden it never will be. Beware of purchasing this device.

Disagree totally every scanner needs learning the reception is a good as your antenna & location.
