Another great video, Andreas...I first started playing with CB radios when I was a Teenager back in the 1970's. My Father even had a CB in his pickup too. My CB Handle was Flatbush. There was a group of us that gathered to play with our radios and we would have Rabbit hunts where one person would hide around town in his car transmitting to us and the rest of us used our radios to triangulate his location and find him. @M0FXB , there seems to be a problem when you do a mixed scan , (DMR & Analog) ... (i read this elsewhere) when scanning or searching for both (mixed) modes ...it seems to pause and no audio is heard ..or it skips channels which it shouldn't ..please check how/if scanning of mixed modes does work well.

@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones , Thanks ! ... but i did not mean just the delay caused by the decoder needing a certain amount of time to decode and start giving you voice ... i ment when you have it scanning a few DMR repeaters ... it seems the scanning stops (pauses) on each channel (idle or active) to determine if there's actual voice or not ... with as a result that the scanning (speed) slows down considerably, Can you check that ? ... Like this: Program 10 channels ... 5 DMR repeaters or simplex and 5 Analog-channels ... put them in 1 bank ... now let it scan the bank ...what happens ? ... how does that scan ? ...does it pause on each channel ? ..thus making the scanning very slow ... ie: from 150 p/sec to maybe 10 p/sec ? (just guessing)

I have a couple of BCD325p2 devices already, but wanted to try the 160. Having had tthe SDS100 before, it looks like the 160 suffers the same issue. When connected to an external antenna, the front end gets swamped to easily, and you get a lot of intermod, especially when scanning VHF air! The 325p2 doesnt suffer anywhere near as bad and i don't remember my 125 suffering this either. I think the 160 is very, very slightly more sensitve (tiny amount), so may be better suited when out and about.

Later firmware cleared vhf air intermod only have one ocassionaly channels out of 400 programmed that cone up as intermod including false close call rat is great reception

Ok yupiteru we're very sensitive but again they differed from terrible intermod especially the old vhf pagers breaking through everywhere

I like this little scanner but it does not have a record function and it does not show call signs or individual DMR number. But aside from that it is a good deal and not too expensive.

I have the BCD325P2 which does DMR/NXDN (but I had to pay for those) and it looks identical to yours. Originally imported from USA. The only difference I can see between yours and mine is mine also comes up with the colour code on screen and yours says “DMR”.

325p2 also, as the model name suggests, handles APCO P25 Phase II, but also has the rather good dynamic memory architecture, and can do trunking, the 160 does not have these capabilities

Nothing to scan - on the display, means there are no saved frequencies in any of the bands numbered 1-0 on the bottom of the screen. You don’t need software to save frequencies, name them, and give them a number.

Just getting a new laptop was hoping just for connecting to 160dn my old windiws seven not supported any more and won't open drivers, but this new laptop has USB but nothing marked as com ports, apparently many pc and laptops don't have them Will I but able yo just out the USb cable in the USB port on tablet and download and use correct drivers?

Just updated firmware on sds models because last firmware caused a bug where it stick and gets confused as to whether it's analogue, or digital 3 days ago uniden eu avera added a new update for eu, uk 1.23.09 and irs definitely cleared the bug up.

I've already done performance testing on my BCD160DN. Put bluntly, its analog performance is significantly inferior to the performance of the analog BC125AT. The BCD160DN lacks sensitivity on the analog channels. There are inexpensive Chinese radios with better analog performance than the BCD160DN and cost about 1/4 as much. The BCD160DN only fills the niche for people who want NXDN and DMR capability. Otherwise, stick with the BC125AT. Oh, and the very expensive Uniden SDS-100 portable scanner is also a performance dog on the analog channels.

On first firmware we had intermod on vhf air that coukd be annoying but later firmware cleared that up I still do have one airband like that and cones up wrong on close call sometimes as well 129.6 comes up for 129.55 at times but even that's rare

Great close call aircraft high up to 10 miles away or overhead lower, uhf and vhf tossing my flat pmr freqs, then using at local airshow on dmr and airshows air comms

I see only a few reviews and overall they are middle of the road, not really great but not too bad. I have the America BC125AT, which I've had for many years and if this is as good as it, it would be fine with me. One Amazon review someone said it's not a good receiver but my old BC125AT is very good. And that's compared to a lot of Yaesu, Icom and Kenwood ham transceivers and my Uniden SDS200 scanner. It picks up as well as any of them and I'd expect this 160 to be about the same as my 125. I have no use for DMR or NXDN because those are not heavily used in my area. But I'm going to get the 160 because it covers the 222-225 ham bad which is important to me and my BC125AT does not cover that one. I'll sell my 125 for a few USD, replace it with this one. I think it's a bit expensive for just adding a little more spectrum and the DMR/NXDN. But I'll pay it. Should be less that $200.00 USD. Whatever that would be in pounds I have no idea.
