I've been on the fence in regards to upgrading my home netlwork/home lab. I'll be going with 2.5 gb all around, but was waiting on the UDM Pro, and more WiFi 6, 7 AP's. Hopefully we'll be seeing more new and upgraded devices shortly.

Lightweight and small don’t typically go together with a reliable ptz in my experience. But then again I tend to favor fixed and multi sensor cameras

Unifi needs to spend more time building upgrades and better tiering of products, rather than doing these side-grades. Why not have a clear UDM hierarchy where you spend more but get universal upgrades, rather than having to pick and choose which features I want? MAX vs Enterprise line of switches have the same problem, which is so frustrating! I want more, not more sometimes and less sometimes!

Access Ultra as a hub is an interesting idea; though I immediately wonder whether it would be vulnerable to somone shorting a request to enter pin, or sending 12v down to a strike plate. Guess we'll have to see at launch!

just got my UDM Pro SE couple weeks ago and was thinking if I made the right choice but this made me happy that I got my SE. I'm wondering if the price would be the same considering the SE is a big much already.

I thought the SE would be to Go-To device for new So-Ho deployments but the built in POE switch doesn't do LLDP-Med. Huge bummer that you have to buy an extra switch to get it to work. Otherwise the SE is SOLID.

Extra HDD bay, it's more towards promoting the protect line of products, wish they would put there time in making there gear more enterprise level it wouldn't cost alot and sort out the bloody QOS system it is soo basic it's not worth using.

Every Pro Max device should have Etherlighting. It's also a shame that the 8 ports are not aligned in a single row to match the switch's aesthetics.

And how would you suggest that fit on that 1U face? Cost savings is obvious in that all they needed to do was move the one 3.5" drive bay over a little to the left and add one more between it and the LCD screen which is what they did but I'm sure you wouldn't mind everyone paying far more for a special squeezed 8 RJ45 ports across plus 1 RJ45 port plus dual SFP ports.

So the UDM Pro Max is really just more CPU power and another HD, minus PoE. Honestly, the sub 5Gb throughput for IDS/IDP is disappointing, I was hoping for at least 5.0, as well as SFP28 cages for ports 10 and 11.

Agree on the IDS throughout, but how many routers do you know that have 25g SFP ports. If you have faster then a 10g fibre internet line, you shouldn’t be looking at ubiquiti

Instead of using 2x udm pros for shadow mode failover, I wonder if they can introduce 2x uxg-pro’s for failover instead of keeping it locked onto a single uxg-pro for Wan failover. I think this would allow better redundancy when you can have 2x routers, 2x core switches, etc, etc and have a full redundant stack. Just like how PFsense does it. A router dies and no one notices until the second one dies lol

Only 4.5gbps maximum IPS throughput is a big fail. This means with some actual rules and features being used it will probably be 3.5-4gbps. Honestly the real world workload throughput should have been at least 5gbps, so this new minor updated model just doesn't cut it for upgrading to. This makes the choice extremely easy to go with Firewalla for my network upgrade now.

I feel this is the biggest issue with it. I mean wifi 7 APs can bottleneck a 2.5Gbps wired port. Why is it that the wifi connection is faster than the stupid cable on a new device in 2024 that will probably cost several hundred dollars? You can buy used 100Gbps switches for only $1000. You would think that we would have 10Gbps across the board at this point.

Let's hope the UDM Pro Max addresses the 1Gbps backplane limitation in the current UDM SE. This backplane issue means the 8 port switch in the UDM SE should be avoided whenever possible.

I feel like disappointed on the UDM Pro Max. I pick up the extra HDD bay which is good. They should have done that in the first place. The ports though seem to be the same as the UDM Pro and are actually a downgrade from the UDM Pro SE. I lose POE on the copper ports? They dont seem to even be any faster. I was hoping for at least 2.5Gbps ports in addition to the POE currently found on the SE model. Then for the fiber ports I was 1. hoping for a couple more of them and 2. I was hoping for at least sfp28 cages for 25gbps connections. Like this thing can't even keep up with my residential connection if I decided to install a backup connection. As is it can barely keep up with by single 10Gbps residential connection at home. Seriously I may. have to switch to opnsense just so I am not bottlenecked by the hardware here.

I have a UDM Pro about 6 months now and am disappointed about its cpu and onboard switch limited to 1gb/s So not much changed then apart from another odd bay, wonder how much extra there charging for that then. Would of liked to see the onboard cpu and switch upgraded, spf lan port to support faster speeds to a switch and faster spf ports on switches, of course the bottle neck is the isp unlink but would be great to support faster isp connections.

@@evelbsstudio all UDM-Pros support 10 Gb WAN connections via the SFP port, and have an additional 10 Gb SFP port to run to a high speed switch. The UDM-Pro and UDM-Pro SE are limited to 3.5 Gbps with IDS/IDP on - and can reach full 10 Gb with it off. I think this video shows the UDM-Pro Max supporting 4.6 Gbps, it did get a bit of a bump. I can see where people are coming from when they say they’d like 2.5 Gb Ethernet ports, but if it would increase the cost it’s not worth it, as you’ll have downstream switches based on your deployment needs anyways.

@@DozIT I would want over 10Gb on spf lan and wan port. The onboard switch (8 port switch) is limited to 1Gb throughput as I was told on there forum when I was complaining about slow switching as its linked to the CPU or something and told the cpu is old and needs upgrading. I have the option of a higher than 10Gb DIA isp unlink if the router would support this, at the moment I have a 2x 10Gb unlink's and run them with two separate networks and routers. I know it's not enterprise equipment but it could be with a few cheap upgrades.

udm pro nvr not max lol no rgb no poe lol it will sit nice with out having the nvr's available so another u1 can be used. ill give it time. probally still better to use the uxg with a cloudkey and run the nvr 4 bay.

Now if only Ubiquiti treated IPv6 like a first class citizen instead of just paying it lip service. None of the UI GUI notifications ever list IPv6 and my experience with the traffic rules is IPv6 is ignored.

The UDM Max makes 0 sense (at least the 8 ports with 2.5gbps and the RGB), the G5 PTZ I could see some nice aplications at my company, the access control ultra I dont see the use case yet I was expecting an UDR2, flex mini 2.5gb, a big PTZ

This is a huge disappointment. At the very minimum this device should have had 10GB WAN and copper 2.5 GB LAN with PoE 'at' preferably 'bt.' If they had done so I would have ordered one on the day of release. That's now a massive no. The question then becomes are they going to release a beefier cloud key gen2+ that runs all the current ubiquiti apps with redundant hard drives and 8 GB of memory. Something smaller than the enterprise cloud key but bigger than the Cloud key gen2+. Because I'm not seeing anything that can be paired with the new Gateway max as a ubiquiti appliance.
