I display the slide, pose the question, allow students "think time," then play the audio signal so they can answer. Is there a way to adjust the settings so I can use my presentation clicker and have the audio play after an animation?

I have been looking for something similar to this. Because of COVID-19, a 40-minute talk that my wife was going to give live now needs to be presented online. The talk has many slides. My wife has written speaker notes for each slide. Here is what I would like to do: 1) have my wife record her narration for each slide. 2) I will insert the MP3 file into the proper slide as you showed. I will check the narration to start automatically. So far, so good. Now here comes the part I don't know if I can do: 3) When the narration is complete, in presentation mode I'd like the slide to advance to the next slide when the narration of the current slide is finished. I know she could just do this as a single screen capture with her just advancing The benefit of this is that the presentation is modular so that if she wants to change things she can do this without having to re-record the entire thing: change the slide(s) in question and for each one re-record her narration. As an exercise for the reader, if I could do this as a picture in picture video (as you do in your KZbin videos, this would be even greater. Thanks!

Step 1. Create audio file. (Anchor) Step 2. Upload to Google cloud drive Step 3. Create Google slide Step 4. Insert graphic Step 5. Link graphic to audio file on Google Drive Step 6. Test graphic file to see if it plays the Audio. This can be explained in a minute and physically demonstrated in such a way that people of all ages, learning ability and English language ability can benefit from all based on the KISS principle JOB DONE Instead of a presenters face, hand gestures , mention of location etc and other superfluous stuff A well scripted voice over would have been a bonus. PS didn't get to see a graphic or hear an audio file ☹️ Hope the producer of this video can accept CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

I use TechSmith Camtasia for my screen recording and video editing. I have a Blue Yeti microphone as well as a few digital audio recorders and lapel mics I use in various situations but the Yeti is my go to mic. 👍

Make sure that you've shared the audio files (set them for Anyone with the link) but if you mean they can't access the feature to use it you'll need to contact your IT Admin about turning it on.

Help! I have done everything that you said, but the audio download from Anchor is not showing up as an audio file in my Google Drive, so when I go to add it to Google Slides it does not appear as an option. It looks like it is a video file?!?!? Then, if I try to insert it into Google Slides as a video, I can find it and click on it, but it won't play. I get an error, "Video cannot be played." Hi, before I was able to download my recordings with no problem but now, it downloads into my iTunes. That wasn’t happening before. Before I could download and drag it into my audio file in google classrooms and it would appear with a red box and headphones. Now, that’s not happening. What do you think is the problem?..I’ve tried several times, and it still goes to my iTunes and automatically starts to play...help!!..this is through Anchor.

Thank you! Do you know how to correct this: I put the audio into the slide as you did in your video. When my kids are going through a slide show on their own, they click on the speaker icon and they need PERMISSION to access the sound bit. And this happens on every slide!! Set the permissions on your audio files in drive to allow anyone with the link. You can do like me and just make a folder with those permissions and d op all audio in that folder. That way you don't have to remember each time.

YESSSSS! Thanks for your quick response! I did that on a few to try it, and that solved that problem. Now, others can click on the audio icon without needing permission. Woo hoo! BUT, the audio is now either non-existent or makes a screeching sound. Next hurdle....

I am having this particular issue with a lesson I have created for my students, and I am not sure what to do. That sounds like a processing issues on the server side maybe. I'll be honest, I'm not really sure with that error. I know my teachers have issues sometimes with videos shared in Google Drive that seems similar. It usually clears up in a day(ish) but again, not really sure. I'm sorry.

Try recording on Voice Memo; I had your same issues on my mac and pc, but using my iPhone worked great. Record on Voice Memo, rename file, share to Google Drive (in new file I created for voice recordings), click Upload (may need to rename again). Open the recording file in Drive, Get shareable link & copy. Go to Slides or Doc, Insert link & Paste shareable link. The file loaded with a digital name, so I renamed it again, but it works great!

The only thing is when you share the slides to students with classroom the audio file will not play. The owner needs to allow every time use of audio playback for each student. Real pain in the neck. I will try with Power Point and see if the problem is the same.

If you set the permissions on the audio files to anyone with the link, it should work with no problem going through classroom. Yes a little of a pain but I set the permissions on my audio clip folder to anyone with link and then I don't have to remember each time.

Yes, my first thought is what you thought - make the audio files and the Slides viewable with anyone with the link. If that didn't work it could be that your Domain Admin have something turned off or blocked that is interfering. The feature works well as long as the sharing is set correctly.

Set all the audio files to "Anyone with the link" permission - I usually set that permission on a folder and then drop all my audio clips into that folder so I don't have to remember to set permissions on each and every file.

Check the file type - it may be saved in the wrong format for Google to recognize it as an audio file. You can convert it at convert-video-online.com/ (it's just a free one I use, there are tons of others online).

yes but you need to make sure the audio file has the right permissions as well. Just set the audio file to anyone with the link so you won't have to worry about it.

Yes! I wasn't sure how to do this, but when you drag the files to your Google Drive, just do the added step of right clicking on the file. Click on share. Then, go down to advanced and change from private to "anyone who has the link can view." This solved that problem for me. :)

I tried recording with anchor.fm and it saved the file as an .m4a. *Audacity* (a great free program www.audacityteam.org/ ) gives you the option to record and then export as a .wav, which will show in your Google Drive for Google Slides. I have to say, this is one of so many pain in the ass things that Google could easily improve on in Slides that I've found already, and I just started using it today.
