Hi Sonya, thanks for the question. You'll need to get your voice memos into Google Drive first. Here's an article I found for importing your iPhone memos to Google Drive: www.numberforhelp.com/how-to-upload-voice-memos-on-my-iphone-directly-to-dropbox-or-google-drive If the voice memos are on your Mac already, you should be able to drag-and-drop the voice memo from your computer into your Google Drive, then follow the steps in the video to add them to your presentation. (You may need to export your voice memos from your Mac app as an MP3 or ACC file first before you can import them into Google Drive.) Keep me posted, let me know if this helps!

@@sophiegreer7663 Nope - that just means the browser let you preview the recording. Try to do Insert >> Audio again (if you recently uploaded the file, it may take a while for Google Slides to recognize it's in your drive). If you still don't see it, do this: Go to Drive.Google.com, then find your audio file. Right-click the file, click Share. Next, click Get Shareable Link (to activate the permissions for the file). Click Done. Then, try again in your Google Slides presentation to Insert >> Audio, see if the file shows up. Please let me know if this works for you.

I wanted to change music in my presentation on the 6th slide but cannot do that because if I insert different music on 6th slide the music from the first slides plays over it. Is there something I can do to control that?
@StephenKwiecinski3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ivonne- do you have the audio on the first slide setup to stop when the slide changes? That will prevent it from playing over the music on the 6th slide. If you need the music to play from slides 1 through 5, there's a more complicated approach to making it work (but this will work): you'll need to use Slide 1 as your main slide for all the info on slides 1 through 5; you would animate all of the elements to disappear when you don't want to see them on the screen anymore. Then, on Slide 2 (which is your current Slide 6), you'll setup your new audio to play and make sure the audio from Slide 1 is set to stop on the slide transition. So essentially, if your presentation is currently 6 slides long, you would create a 2-slide presentation. If that seems complicated and you'd like some one-on-one help, set up a time for us to talk here: stephenkwiecinski.com/tech-support

I saw my audio may not have been working because I didn't have the audio files shared in the same folder as my presentation. I fixed that. Now, I am wondering if I would have to redownload a Google Slide to a PowerPoint (as recommended for my class) to fix the audio problem, or when I made the changes in Slides, did it change the audio availability automatically in the PowerPoint one?
@StephenKwiecinski4 жыл бұрын
Angela, great question - when you download as PowerPoint, it should create a "self-contained" file that has the audio working correctly. Open the downloaded PowerPoint file and see if everything is working properly.

Will they be able to watch it easily by clicking on it or will Google make them login, etc.?? I just don’t want to go thru the effort if it’s going to require an account bc then half won’t bother.
@StephenKwiecinski2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Yes, you can make your Slides viewable to folks without a Google account. 2 options: 1. Choose File > Publish to Web. Set the auto-advance timer (from 1 to 60-seconds) and other options, click Publish, and distribute the link provided. 2. Select File > Share. Under General Access, choose "Anyone with the link" and in the dropdown to the right, choose "Viewer". Copy link and distribute. Option 1 is best if you just want people to view the presentation, though the limit is you must choose a time to auto-advance the slideshow. Option 2 is OK if you dont want the slides to auto-advance, but this option requires the viewer to choose "Slideshow" in order to view the presentation (which may deter some from viewing the slideshow). I hope this helps!

Hi Natalie - I've noticed a lot of people having trouble with Google Slides on their iPads. One tip is to make sure any audio & video files you use in the presentation are located in a shared folder that's accessible by every student (VIEW permission should be just fine). Your Chrome workaround is another good solution. Aside from that, it might be a limitation on the iPads and their compatibility with Google Drive. Please keep me posted, I'd love to hear if the shared folder idea works for you.

@@StephenKwiecinski thanks for your reply. It appears to be a limitation on ipads and their compatibility. I've started sharing my slides as a link now so it asks them how they want to open them. Unfortunately the ipads with the younger classes went home without Chrome loaded on though! Frustrating!

Thank you. When I download the google slides with voice, will the voice still be playable in the downloaded version?

I am a kindergarten teacher. I was able to create the slides and the recording . When I assigned this in my google classroom it wouldn't allow my students to hear the recordings until I shared each one with each student. Is there away to do this without having to share each recording or what did I do wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jacqueline - if all the audio files are in one folder on your Google Drive, you can set the permissions of that folder to "public" to make all the audio available for your students to hear. Have you tried that?

Similar to what is explained here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJyQmYObmtuqiJo

Thanks for your video Steve. I followed all of your steps, but I can't get my audio to play when I insert it into my presentation. It works when I play it from Google Drive, but I haven't been able to hear anything once it's in Slides. (FYI, I made sure it wasn't muted and adjusted the presentation volume, but both without any positive results. I also created recordings using three different tools that all create .mp3 files to make sure that wasn't the problem.) Any suggestions?

Hey Nicole- sorry to hear your having issues. Happy to help! Did you make sure the audio file is set to "Auto Play" when you advance to its slide? If you don't want to use Auto-Play, does the audio file play when you click on the play button? Keep me posted so we can figure this out for you.

@@StephenKwiecinski I tried using auto-play and not using it. The file won't play either way. When I click on the file in Slides, it appears like it's playing (time is passing on a bar), but there is no sound. When I click on the same file in Google Drive, it plays just fine.

I’m not sure. Do you know how to do it on an iPad because I can’t use a computer

Hi Greg - the process should be similar, though some users have experienced issues with the iPad. What version iPad are you using?
