I recently invested in the $79 pencil and find it very functional and valuable. The more expensive version bib not seem worth the added expense.

As someone who draws on a 10th gen this is what we needed. Something in between since the 1st gen is outdated and a hassle and the 2nd gen is not compatible for us!

the thing you said about double tap on 2nd gen is bullshit. I have been using my pencil for 1,5 years now and this feature worked perfectly all the time

My experience is that it's not too reliable when using that feature. What apps do you use the double-tap feature on?

It would be perfect for me since I use the 10th gen. I use it for my studies and is perfect for me since me and my research groupmates usually conduct our meeting online so the landscape camera really helps too (I use it with magic keyboard). So this pen would work for me.

I agree, I think it's perfect for students who don't have a creative aspect to their course. If you're using it for writing notes, this is the pencil to get!

The first Apple Pencil is rubbish - a pain to charge and pair plus it constantly discharges even if not used. I strongly suspect it spends its energies looking for Bluetooth. However the 2nd generation automatically pairs and charges - definite plus. What is peculiar is the USB pencil magnetically attaches but does nothing else when attached. It is definitely a price point thing.

I agree. Charging on the first gen pencil was its biggest weakness, but that's why the second pencil was such a huge success - wireless charging while attached to the iPad was an incredible solution. The lack of wireless charging on the USB-C pencil may be to do with pricing as they don't then have to include the wireless charging technology inside the pencil, but also differentiates this version to the 2nd gen. If someone really wants wireless charging, they'll have to spend a lot more money for it. Would you use the USB-C pencil without wireless charging, considering how much cheaper it is to the 2nd gen?
