Who else feels everyone should be given one of these as a kid? Someone to play with and play games with, you will grow up with him and you will live your life with him; it would help childhood obesity and it would be awesome to have a robot at the same time!

Asimo can run, Asimo can walk. He can hold people's hands, he can exercise, and he can push stuff as well! He can also be your waiter if told to. But what people didn't know is that Asimo could be quite temperamental and can easily go into maniacal fits of 'Rage' that can kill many people if they are in range. Yes kids, Robots CAN go insane if you push the wrong buttons. (pun intended)

It's really quite impressive that they've gotten this far with Asimo. Although we probably would have been even farther by now if humans weren't so greedy or fearful of stupid things. I hope Asimo becomes part of society in the future, it would bring new innovation into the world.

Believe it or not, this little guy is doing some amazing things! He's revolutionizing the way we think of bipedal motion and electronics! Once they figure out the AI, imagine the possibilities of using ASIMO not only in private home use, but public office use, educational use, and even entertaining purposes! Maybe even in a theme park setting! ASIMO opens the door to another world of opportunities!

This is amazing. It still amazes me that we humans were put here with seemingly nothing more than our minds (yes, and opposing thumbs :), basic natural minerals and time and from that we have made such incredible things. Simply amazing. Well done Honda!!!

Impressive indeed. It's fun to watch how the foot has to accelerate upward before it hits the ground in order to keep those impact forces from tearing up the motors. Should be fun to see it run when it doesn't know the precise location of the ground. Still definitely great work.

what sets ASIMO apart from the other robots? How is it able to walk so fast in a fluid motion without tipping over? I notice that the robots torso lowers itself closer to the ground. This is to lower the center of gravity right? theres also gotta be something in those legs that makes the movements very fluid. Ive seen some other robots where the leg movements are pretty violent while even at slow walking speeds.

Um, curious why does a robot need to "exercise"? is this to like work the dust and crud out of their joints? or for demonstration/educational purposes? I was hoping it could demonstrate Karate moves? It is cute watching it bow when completing task (Japanese culture. Would that Americans could be so courteous.). Are the robots taught what to do if they come up on a human not expecting to see a robot, and human screams/ faints/clobbers the robot ? Do they have a way to alert the handlers?

Asimo is excellent for handicap people, his hand movements are really extraordinary, the only problem that complicates Asimo's movement is his chest and back, which he seems to be holding a back pack and that complicates even a human being to move properly, he needs a flexible back that bends just like a vertebrate does and an abdomen that can flex in to move correctly also he needs to be a little taller, I really like Asimo he is awesome, Asimo es lo Maximo!!.

imagine this little robot running around armed with rifle and looking for a target thinking its his assigned meal, while other people are all happy taking pictures saying how cute it is thinking is just part of his little routine to run around all jolly like with a nurf gun suddenly the robot pissed off at all the noise and laughter turns around and starts locking in to targets and shooting indiscriminately and keeps running jolly like it never happened.never know what might happen in the future

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the last generation to go and play outside and not be overly influenced by technology and gadgets is the one before yours.. and that's only because all that technology didn't exist. I still remember when having a computer in your house was a brand new idea... whereas you cannot picture living without one. And nowadays neither can anyone else. Now that i got that off my chest... This robot is amazing!! haha How long before robot boxing?! Cause im there!

Asimo was named after Isaac Asimov, the Science Fiction writer who pioneered stories of humaoid Robots in his series of stories, Robby the Robot, The Caves of Steel, and The Naked Sun. R. (robot) Daniel Olivaw, and R. Giskard were two well known Robots in his stories. Asimo is more like a very early version of Robby the Robot.

one of the hardest things about smart robots is to figure out how much programming you should give them.because if there going to be helping the elderly then it needs a fairly advanced set of parameters to be able to be useful in all situations.it would need to have the ability to adapt to new stimuli..and there is crux and the issue..do we want smart adaptable robots made by corporations who also make weapons?..( as i understand it, Honda does not make weapons, but there not the only ones in RD)
