Duet version with Niels Brinck and Christine Lorentzen. This updated remix has Lorentzen's version pitch-shifted down five semitones in order to be the same key as Brinck's version.
Back in 2018, Cryoshell rereleased "Gravity Hurts" and remixed this hard rock song with a full reorchestration by the Budapest Art Orchestra. After noticing that the two versions had nearly-identical tempos, I mashed the two of them together and posted it on KZbin. A lot of people liked it. But there were also a lot of people who didn't like it because the 2008 and 2018 versions are actually set in different keys. While the two keys are harmonically compatible (forming a fourth or fifth chord, depending on how you look at it), I can see why it would sound jarring. Therefore, I'm going back at it for Round 2.
This time, I had to decide whether I would try to pitch-shift Brinck, Lorentzen, or both in order to match their keys. The problem is that pitch-shifting without tempo-shifting causes audio distortion, and I wanted to avoid that as much as possible (which is why I didn't do it at all last time), so I decided to shift only one instead of both. Then I determined that pitch-shifting Brinck turned his voice into a chipmunk or a giant. Therefore, while I would have preferred to leave Lorentzen and her orchestra untouched, I realized that pitch-shifting her down was the most natural-sounding option (even sounding rather close to Brinck's voice).
Now, as "Thanks" for all the praise and criticism from the previous Gravity Hurts mashup, I'm "Giving" you this new and improved (?) version. Does the key-matching make up for the lower audio quality? You'll have to let me know which one you prefer.
"Gravity Hurts" belongs to Cryoshell. BIONICLE belongs to The LEGO Group.
