30 years ago Joan Kirner - another darling of the left, ran Victoria into the ground and left a huge debit. The modern Labor Party seems incapable of financial management. It seemed to start 50 years ago with Whitlam. I remember my grandmother saying at the time the Labor Party used to be a good party. And my grandmother loved a good party!

When it comes to taxation, try starting with the largest government expense. When the public service sector is in excess of 50% of the state budget, it's the best way to save money and remove taxation.

The best thing regional Victoria can do is to try to get the borders changed so you end up in a different state or possibly band together and create a new state and leave Victoria to just Melbourne.
