The reason for the little plastic extensions on the wheel arches: Regulatory Compliance - In some regions, especially in the EU, cars must meet specific regulations regarding how much the tires can protrude from the wheel arches. If the wheels stick out too far beyond the bodywork, the manufacturer may add these plastic lips to ensure compliance without redesigning the entire fender. In some cases they also do this to improve the aerodynamics. These small plastic extensions help direct airflow around the wheels, reducing drag and improving fuel efficiency.

That mystery slot is for a person who somehow got locked inside the trunk to slide an object (preferably old school metal car key) to open the trunk latch and get out, pretty sure. Even seems to have the arrow label to tell you in which direction to move the object to undo the trunk latch.

I was thinking the same, but just imagine being in the trunk without an object to insert in the slot...

@johnnypovdrives Yeah, it is confusing for me as well. We used to have mechanisms that allowed people to open the trunk from inside in case they were kidnapped. Maybe they ditched that and it's supposed to be a manual way of opening the trunk in case the exterior handle isn't working. I don't know, car manufacturers do confusing things.

I want this car, (two previous GTI in my past), but I'm totally hesitant that it will be more than I need for its use, mostly due to the fact that the front tires will always be overwhelmed by the torque. As a daily commuter, on imperfect roads, it will be all day fighting the wheel for traction. Not cool. I've test driven it with the 18" all-seasons and was not impressed, but then I drove the manual and the auto with the 19" summer tires, and it was completely a different feeling. Trouble is, I can't use summer tires for 6-7 months out of the year. So torn by this. I wish VW would add the Audi A3's AWD that does minor duty to put the traction down, or some rear tire assist at speeds below 20 mph (30km?).

The golf gti and golf R are nice but in my eyes the Polo GTI is the best of them all. Small, fast, uses no fuel and comfortable i just can't see a better car. I have a 2020 polo gti and its such a joke to drive.
