So i am from Germany and i am so sick of all the "volkswagen is shit, they break after 10 000 miles" comments, like pretty much everyone drives VW here, do you think German people would invest their money in a relatively expensive car if they had bad experiences with it? My neighbors have two Golfs from 1999 and they are over the 300 000 kilometers mark now and they haven't had any issues other than replacing the wear parts, my aunt had a Mazda 3 that started rusting after two years, she got rid of it and now has a Seat Leon which is on the same platform as the Golf; all of my friends drive Polos (the current gen one not the all new one) and they are all super happy with their cars, so what's your problem? I’ve had mine three years, I still like it a lot. My 95 PS engine isn’t rough, it’s pretty quiet. The only annoying issue is that the handbrake is closer to the passenger seat, so you might have to explain why you keep rubbing the passenger’s thigh. Several times I took the key out of the ignition and the radio was still on, seems to be a bug. Overall it’s comfortable, pretty quite, with excellent mpg, I’ve even had 70 mpg from a tank three times now, and over 60 mpg is usual.

Just had the opportunity to drive the 2019 65hp (manual gearbox) and was pleasantly surprised. I drove about 140 miles of mostly motorways and averaged about 44 mpg. It looks and feels great inside. I thought it was also very quiet (I could hardly hear the engine, no wind noises) and it just drives effortlessly. The GPS let me down twice though (it went into mute all by itself and later on the screen just froze), forcing me restart it. If I had the money I'd definitely buy one, it's a great looking car, although I'd probably go for the 95 hp version.

Why are they making small cars bigger this one looks bigger than golf 4
@SpottedCreeper6 жыл бұрын
I think it is because of the endless 'best in class..' battle that manufacturers have to deal with. Best in class boot space = boot a liiittle bit wider. Best in class rear leg room = car a liiittle bit longer. Best in class head room = car a liiiitle bit taller. Best in class safety = car a little bit wider/longer to incorporate more safety things. All those little increments year on year means the cars are all growing. It's frustrating as these 'small cars' are no longer that small. I think the Nissan Micra best illustrates the trend, put a 2001 Micra along side a 2018 Micra and the size difference is really quite noticeable.
@miskatonic62106 жыл бұрын
Time for countrys to make you pay extra fees for bigger cars or pay no fees for very small cars. Look for Japan. European cars get wider and bigger and it's almost impossible to fit a middle class car into 15 year old parking lots or drive safely on narrow roads.

Yes, the Fiesta was better to drive, the Polo rear axle suspension is not to my liking, but that was all, on every other aspect the Polo feels and is a better car, especially in regards to quality and materials used.My seats are the Sport Comfort which are excellent, great fabric and design, plenty of adjustments, lumbar support for both front seats, led lighting all around on the inside/outside (led headlights only an option though), even on the unlock handles inside and a beautiful led thin strip along the bottom of the dashboard to the doors. Comparison with 2015 1.2 TSI Polo 95PS (which I own) 2015 - Really fun to drive, fast and manoeuvrable , pulls away in 2nd easily. 2015 - suspension cushioned by comfortable well padded seats - shorter wheelbase deals well with UK roads 2020 version 95PS 2 extra doors (good) Not fun to drive - 1.0L 95PS engine is thrashy (sounds like a scooter when you accelerate) Will let you down if you pull out from junctions in 2nd gear Front seats are larger(good) but are hard as boards - the combination of a longer wheel base and hard seats makes for a less uncomfortable ride than its predecessor. Lots of hard plastic on top of the doors that doesn't appear in the earlier version. Windscreen is a lot narrower - if your over 6 foot, driving might make you feel like you're peering through a letter box.

To Turn off the system on all VW/Audi /Skoda completely if you are finding this interfering with normal driving and finding this very unnerving when it cuts in when not wanted. Take the cover off the Radar sensor in the front grill then unplug. Then tape over the cable plug to stop water getting in with good quality insulating tape or a waterproof tape. This as far as i am aware this will put the vehicle back to standard braking. But test the vehicles braking before going on a journey to make sure the vehicle can do a emergency stop by doing this yourself. (Did this with 19 Plate VW Transporter) As Manufacture would not risk the front grill/radar sensor if damaged, the brakes must continue to work as standard. The Front Assist will then disappear from the on dash/screen menu

Have you gotten inside? The interior quality is much inferior with less standard specs and the price diff is less than 1000 euros

For the sake of a tiny bit of dashboard trim I'd take the more exciting car. Always prefer Seats to vws
@andrewchron6 жыл бұрын
testdrive both of them like i did and you'll see while it may be the same car, it actually is not... and the price diff is so small ., ibza should be cheaper... not even mentioning how much more vw will sell used compared to seat

Blake Swan I was sitting in many cars at a local country show today. And out of all the cars I sat in, the Hyundai Kona had the most HORRIBLE plastics. I could not find one soft, nice plastic on the dashboard, doors or centre console. The only car that had worse plastics than the Know, was the Dacia Duster. However, I can excuse the Dacia due to it's low price.

For someone who currently has a mk7 golf. I'm considering this to be my next car. Either this or a golf GTI
@ast55156 жыл бұрын
So this feels high quality and stuff, for example it has a soft touch dash that nobody cares about. And then you say it has some hard and brittle plastics, like the top of the door that DOES matter. Is it expected at this price point? No! This car costs as much as the outgoing Ford Focus. That has more soft touch materials. Does that make the Focus premium? No! It makes the Polo feel really cheap.
@Danial01526 жыл бұрын
the reality is VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda products plastic has gotten worse over the years. It saves VW Group billions to put wafer thin brittle plastic but it makes the cars shitter.
@ast55156 жыл бұрын
The same thing happened to Ford. The only difference is that reviewers always notice Ford, but never the VW group.
@forza223bowe55 жыл бұрын
ast5515 I think if anything fords have decent plastics these days.
@thomasj50833 жыл бұрын
It's a nice car. In some ways feels nicer than my mk 7 golf. My only gripe is the engines. You can have 100/115ps or go all the way to the GTI and get 200ps. How about something in between like 130-150? I guess because they don't want it to steal sales from the Golf.

MATT, the interior is absolutely the same as the VW T-roc - there you said it is cheap. Now you are saying its "class" and good ??????????
@Darx976 жыл бұрын
Martin Stanev t roc for some reason actually has hard plastic on the dash not soft like in the polo
@VehicleValhalla6 жыл бұрын
Martin Stanev also the T roc is more expensive and competes in another class. Maybe he is comparing the interior quality of the polo to other rivals around the same price point
@Ott4vi4nu56 жыл бұрын
the t-roc is a class above, both in size and money
@marianmar72886 жыл бұрын
now all the cars manufactors use in some places more hard plastics and this is for maintain the price tag because they invest more in safety and modern infoteinment! once the regulation for safety and poluation were not so restrict so the cars haved more soft plastic but less safe in crash test and safety featurings!

He said it scores the highest safety rating for a car of its size - that's because there are no other cars in its size category. It's halfway between a small and medium car.

Gotta love the hate on Volkswagen, they make high quality, comfortable, and decent performance cars. Yet people complain that they are ''boring" lol, since when is something simple and elegant boring? people have no class nowadays.
@RobbertHoek3 жыл бұрын
i cant agree more on the DSG gearbox - its jerky from time to time and doesnt respond as fast as you'd like in D, in S its much better but revs the engine way higher (obviously). the 3-cil engine which could sound great sounds like its being thrashed to bits when flooring it, my 2020 Ibiza FR with the same engine somehow doesnt do that. something that i would mention about the front seats is that i find them very uncomfortable. im 6ft so not that tall or anything but they are very hard but the worst thing is the side support which goes on for too long and force your shoulders forwards

Polo SEL DSG (£19,910) + white silver paint (£565) + LED headlights (£975) = £21,450 before any other options…. IMO the SEL should also come with a rear armrest - no Polo’s do… £21,450 is a bit much for a Polo, even after a Carwow discount. The last time I looked this trim level cost only £13,000 in AUS. Otherwise good review Mat… think you may be earning too much to go ahead and recommend and buy it! 7:45 - oh yes it only has 115 bhp not 125bhp (Perhaps you were thinking Fiesta?)

It is a VW so people *think* it is better than others but *in reality* it is among the worst ones, especially when we talk about reliability. VW is worst overall in Warrant Week warranty-time expenses per car already for 15 years!
@TheKruxed6 жыл бұрын
The Seat Ibiza is better to look at, better to drive and has the same tech. The Fiesta is far better to drive. An Audi A1 is far more prestigious and has a much nicer interior. You are quite clearly a VW shill bot
@pb78706 жыл бұрын
Sherukka have you driven a Polo or a Fiesta? Or owned one? How can you possibly come up with that statement. The Polo is much better built. Fact. Doesn’t come in 3 door though so forget it but they’re reliable and well made
@Sherukka6 жыл бұрын
I try to drive all new cars, so yes. The *real* build quality is sadly going down every year because of the cost cutting. :(
