Great, I was just about to order a top liner lock Raccoon as a beater knife and now this drops.

Same. I think I’ll like this better than a raccoon

You'd think w/ a name like porcupine, it'd have pointier jimping! ;) love your channel, and was looking at this one...thanks!

Vosteed is making some great looking knifes. I have six different ones.

I have 4: Raccoon, Large and mini Nightshade and the new Shilin Cutter. All great, all affordable.

Id like to try the top liner lock but honestly ill probably just wait for the sage 6 to come out.

Especially the carbon fiber s90v version 😮

Just recently got the Raccoon with the top liner lock. Honestly liking it quite a bit as a beater. I wonder how that newly revealed Spyderco Sage 6 will fare.

Gideon’s Tactical did a test a while back and said the lockbars weren’t properly heat treated, since they bent way too easy Been holding off on a Vosteed Top Liner Lock for a while because of that. Also holding out hope that more companies will actually start using compression locks, rather than leaning on crossbars and plunges forever

CBRX just tested one. While it showed signs of wear, it didn't fail. And he drops a huge amount of force on it multiple times. I think people are getting too hung up on crazy tests thinking that every single knife needs to be an absolute tank. Right knife, right task.

whats your favorite knife for edc

I like that a lot. Gonna be a tough choice between this and the Raccoon.

I like the design, but I would really prefer a more premium version materials wise. I just don’t have much reason to carry a knife in 14c28n anymore. As far as budget knives go though I think this will be hard to beat.

Really,really like that. 👍

They do have a larger one. It's called the Psyop.

I love my 1st gen Vosteed Raccoon. This one has some stiff competition from the CJRB Acacia in, basically, the same form but the CJRB has a friedlier price point. If I were to spend that much on a Vosteed I would probably cough up for the Bowie-bladed Raccoon .
@shawnsadventures285212 күн бұрын
Keep in mind that Bowie will break a tip doing edc work, made for skinning not utilities. Bowie tips have no tip stability
@DianaWimmer-l5i12 күн бұрын
@@shawnsadventures2852Odd, in a few decades of using knives I haven't had a problem with Bowie tips. I have found that while my Raccoon is a terrific slicer it is problematic when I have to pierce and open, say, a heavy gauge vacuum bag since the "spear point" has a lot of blunt spine that has to be forced into the cut. More force=less control. My Sencut Crowley gets the nod for those jobs. Be nice to have both qualities, piercing and slicing in one 14c blade

Yep, I really like this knife but I’m tired of the large “crop” of 3” knives, from just about everyone, flooding the market. Where the “F” are the full size 3.5” knives these days? 😢
@sethprice24113 күн бұрын
I like Vosteed. They're doing a lot of cool stuff. But they make too many coin purse/ fifth pocket knives.

"But they make too many coin purse/ fifth pocket knives." How much is too many? Do they make more than 3?
@spirona13 күн бұрын
👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼THIS It’s not just Vosteed, but they in particular make nothing but boring looking schmedium blades these days. I like the top liner lock, I like that they make functioning blades with good ergos. But once you get that down the way they have it’s easy. Vosteed just rinses and repeats. Surprisingly, Kizer and Civivi (to some extent) are innovating while Vosteed, QSP, Miguron and the other budget/midrange brands are mostly not.
@rays516313 күн бұрын
Its a 3" knife
@spirona13 күн бұрын
@@kingcormack8004off the top of my head: raccoon/raccoon cub, mini nightshade/nightshade, shilin cutter, marten, thunderbird (3.25”), vallhund, acorn/mini acorn, porcupine, mini psyop/psyop, thornton, corgi/corgi pup, hedgehog, ankylo. There are more. Not one of those knives comes close to 8 inches. They may have made two or three knives over the last several years that are 8 inches are above, but I can’t recall any offhand. Almost every night they make is between 6.5 and 7.5 inches. Ie, “schmedium”
@spirona13 күн бұрын
@@rays5163 Exactly. That’s the point. They make small to medium knives only.
@shawnsadventures285212 күн бұрын
Another VOSTEED that has MUSHROOMS in the shade. Reviewers are glossing over that on this and the Marten. Manufacturers are being protected by reviewers, because they ignore the really bad points…screw heads above scales between clip making harder to get in the pocket and that’s IMPORTANT
@klrktsr11 күн бұрын
And that’s your complain and justification that reviewers ignore “bad points” ?
