Lucy, thanks for another nice video. You look happy and excited to be talking about cruising as crew! And that is wonderful! 😀Perhaps an interview with ship's officers when you take your next cruise? And, other than "interviews", how about a wine-tour video (like you did from the Canary Islands), or an "exploring" some city or location vlog (like Cadiz)? Fair winds sweetie! 😀

New (better cabins and crew areas) but not brand new (too many eyes will be on you) is best . I’m in Liverpool and going to the naming ceremony tomorrow 😊

I was part of the opening team at the second Sun Princess, launched in 1995...it was my second contract and the only brand new ship I joined and this was the best contract I've had. As a restaurant staff, having 2 main dining rooms, with their own galley on the same deck, the work load was so was much easier than my first contract on Crown Princess ( the one launched in 1990 and where the galley was bellow the restaurant ), and having most of the staff coming from Crown & Regal Princess, so everybody knew everybody, we were the "Dream Team" of Princess Cruises... But next contract, I joined the much older ship - Royal Princess ( the one launched in 1984 ) and I enjoyed almost as much as the previous one, mostly because of the itinerary, but also because was a extremely well built ship, so stable on very rough sea and because was much smaller than Sun, therefore a lot less crowded :) So...I guess it depends on a lot of factors, whether one prefer a brand new or an older ship.

Can you do a video something like “Top Five SECRET Port Attractions only Crew Know About!” For example. I found out about Cinnamon Bay in St. John from a crew member and it was BEAUTIFUL!

Thank you for the video 😊 I am in New Zealand and would love to work on a ship. I applied to RCI but never heard back from them 😢 there don't seem to be many opportunities from NZ

Hey, I don't think you being from NZ should be a problem. Have you applied to any other cruise lines? Maybe cast your net a bit wider than just RC. ❤️

What happens if you need dental fillings or need to see a doctor? How would you get your prescription medication if you're across the world?
@captainjohn49
@captainjohn49 5 ай бұрын
A dental filling would be done by a dentist in port (most probably your main embarkation port), arranged by your ship's medical staff and your team manager, etc. (this would be the same if you needed some other medical treatment that could not be handled via tele-med and/or by on-board nursing staff....BUT, be aware if there is any serious medical issue that would keep you from working, it is highly likely that you will be sent home afterward, as you would no longer be able to work) As for prescription meds, you should bring what you need with you on-board, but if you need regular refills, there are of course pharmacies in all major cruise ports....or you could simply order on-line and have them shipped to you via your cruise line's port agent (in your main embarkation port). I hope this helps clarify?

Thanks for your video 🥰 Quick question if you have toothache while working and need to see dentist asap, What would you do and if work insurance will cover it? Thanks in advance ❤
@captainjohn49
@captainjohn49 5 ай бұрын
For a simple toothache, you'd take Tylenol, etc. and go to work. And, I believe you can get that from ship's medical. Now, if ship's medical determines you require a dentist, they (and your team manager) would arrange a visit to dentist in port, and yes the cost would be covered by the cruise line or your employer on-board. (this would be the same if you needed some other medical treatment that could not be handled via tele-med and/or by on-board nursing staff....BUT, be aware if there is any serious medical issue that would keep you from working, it is highly likely that you will be sent home afterward, as you would no longer be able to work) Hope this helps clarify?

what kind of charging socket is there in cruise ship ?
@captainjohn49
@captainjohn49 5 ай бұрын
Most (all?) have regular USA 120vac electrical sockets in crew cabins, some (older UK ships?) have UK and EU 230vac sockets as well. You should have a international socket adapter in any case. Hope this helps?
