I did the same trip a couple weeks ago (business class) on way to Middle East. I was very impressed although the lounge I went to did not look like that one. The food I hate spicy and was worried but it was great. Although the plane was a bit tired the service and staff were exceptional and I was very happy. Leaving Colombo to Dubai was my first Emirates flight and was not that impressed. Just arrived in Thailand on Ethiiad and that was great. Enjoy your videos have made me get out of my comfort zone and experience new things and places in my old age. 👍🙏🙂

I loved the turquoise seat color on your first flight...the second lounge and flight were certainly lacking. The interior seemed like it was falling apart, literally - but maybe for AUD 167 that's what you get? Those bus gates....I have a love-hate relationship with them. :D The hotel was amazing! Great city vlog. You're a brave man running around in those little vehicles!

Prices usually don’t reflect the product as it’s usually driven by demand :) Colombo-Bangalore alone (without a connecting flight to Colombo) would cost $200. More expensive than a Qantas domestic flight! Wouldn’t be happy to pay that I was in that hotel for 4 nights, wish I was there longer 😂 The pool was nice too and I could actually afford hotel dining at that place🤪

Hi Jayden in late October 2023, I also flew SriLankan Airlines for the first time in Economy Class from Madurai to Dubai via Colombo. The first flight from Madurai, India to Colombo, Sri Lanka was operated by an old Airbus A320-200, unfortunately there's no adjustable headrest, they do have a personal TV, USB-A port in that flight. I sat at the Emergency exit seat, and it also has the entertainment box underneath my seat. And when I landed in Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, unfortunately I was only there for 2 hours before I boarded my next flight to Dubai. But at gate security, unfortunately they didn't allow water and liquids as it's the same procedure as in Singapore Changi Airport and KL International Airport. The second flight from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Dubai, UAE was operated by an Airbus A330-200. The flight attendants on both flights were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole flight.

Another great trip report and vlog JW! I haven't flown Sri Lankan in a long time, they haven't improved, that being said the first meal from KLIA looked amazing! 1:25, Yes the last time I was departing KLIA1 was last year in July, the aerotrain is still out of service for renovation, so we have to take a train, it's fine, that time, I flew KLM, Boeing 787-9 from Kuala Lumpur to Manila, flight is okay, 3 and a half hours. I return to Malaysia last month, but I departed in KLIA2 to fly Airasia Philippines from Kuala Lumpur to Manila, flight is good okay, 3 and a half hours and yes to this day, the aerotrain is still out of service for 1 and a half years.

4:14, Except KLIA2 and Terminal 4 in Singapore, there's 2 security, 1 is after immigration and before going to the gate and I can refill my water bottle. 27:13, Same when I take the train for the 1st time in Manila in last year in July, it's good and okay, they have that.

First time seeing foldable tray tables on a narrowbody plane (a320 neo). I loved how they served frequent flyers first! The a320neo seats look 10 times better than the older seating. Very brief taxi music.

Great video, Jayden! What a contrast between aircraft. I agree that even though the second aircraft was old, the condition was pretty unacceptable. Sounds like Colombo isn’t necessary the best transit hub, especially for frequent flyers. Thanks for the Bangalore vlog. I hope you survived the food there. I don’t handle spicy foods well either. 🥵

I can't hear Columbo without seeing the detective named Columbo. Haha Columbo is an old TV show in America. I enjoy watching it on KZbin, even though the first one was aired in 1969. Hey mate, fantastic video as always. Having spent the first 18 years of my life in Colombo, I’ve seen the airline at its peak and sadly now, at its lowest. Honestly, I’ve gotta say, I myself am highly reluctant to fly UL. The KLIA sky train has been out of order for some time now. Just a small note, nothing major, at 9:22 you said the flight time between KUL-CMB is 1 hour, but in fact it is actually 3 hours. The 2.5 hour time difference between the two ports makes it a bit confusing though when you look at the ETD and ETA. Ever since I saw that you had UL on your itinerary I was basically counting the days for this trip report lol. Fantastic as always, thanks for sharing Jayden! Regards from Tassie! -Nilesh

Hi Jayden , you are very lucky. Previously I took UL flight from KUL via CMB to MEL. 1st leg the flight did not have TV, while the 2nd leg the TV even was broken (not work , nothing can watch) UL flight do provide a FOC rest place / accommodation if transit more than 8 hours in CMB, but you need to entry SriLanka . I got crush by the luggage crush from an Indian when I went to the accommodation!! While I on board CMBMEL flight, I have never seen more than 10 wheel chairs lining up and waiting to board. Also I got a child screaming during the 8 hours flight! When come back, I fly with SYDCMB then to BKK. SYDCMB flight is normal but still old and lots of people on CMBBKK sector with the old flight! I even ask for a blanket but being ignore, and everything looks broken! The only thing I told myself to satisfy is the price. I fly 3 countries, 4 different airport HKG-MH-KUL KUL-xCMB-MEL by UL SYD-xCMB-BKK by UL BKK-CX-HKG just costing me HKD66xx include tax all the way Economy!

Try there route from LHR-CMB because it is a good A330 with a bit of wear to it a way better experience. Hope I see you try it! ❤ Also on longer routes like the one I experienced (from London Heathrow) had way more to offer from the IFE system.

Would be very annoying to punctually show up at the gate on "boarding time" 1 1/2 hrs before the flight, be stuck in the gate area with limited seating, drinking, and restroom facilities, and then when you think it's your time to board, the gate agent suddenly tells you otherwise. Way to go for operational efficiency! There should be ways to hold airlines accountable for delayed boarding situations like these

I was at KLIA early June looking for the Golden Lounge in the Satellite Terminal and when I asked at T1 how to get there (yeah the tram wasn't working still) they put me in a limo 🤣🤣🤣 but hey I couldn't find it so went to the Regional lounge ... so sad hahahaha, the first Lounge there is better than Qantas first at T1 SYD, on a par with Pier first at HKG

4R-MRE was brought to Sri Lanka by Mihin Lanka Airlines, I have operated this aircraft with many hours on it and trust me it was far better maintained inside and out then before Sri Lankan Airlines took it over. Sad to see my old bird in this condition.

hi ya! That depends on your airfare type. If it's an 'economy lite' fare, there's a 50% chance you don't. Do you know what booking code your ticket was? e.g. O, N, M, S etc

Excellent Trip report on UL Oneworld Alliance member on the Indian subcontinent. From what I can see UL A320-251N beats their A320-232s due to them having IFE In every seat. inflight entertainment system on your first flight is almost identical to Philippine Airlines A350-900. I wonder what other airline you can compare them to? The Pie you got seems to resemble a McDonald's apple pie or a Filipino Jollibee peach pie.
