Can you please tell me your set up. I really like to buy Garritan to play live while recording. But the thing is, I have a Roland LX708 which has usb midi straight to my laptop, and bluetooth midi. I tried another VST with my usb midi and it had too much latency. I'm afraid the same thing will happen with Garritan. So do you use an audio interface? Is it possibile without audio interface?
@snipereliteone5 жыл бұрын
@@Leuvre my setup is M-Audio 88 hammer macbook pro 15" i7 16gb 512gb audio interface zoom tac 2r thunderbolt with a usb c to usb converter. Is best to use audio interface balanced outputs you can use the 3.5mm output but is not good for your computer and the quality of the sound. The latency can be changed on preferences in the cfx garritan there are a lot of VSTs that have this feature in his options but this is another thing and very IMPORTANT for you "if you are using windows you need to install this www.asio4all.org/ this little driver give you the ability to modify and lower the latency by your self in a global way" is very easy just see a video of how to use asio4all 1.asio4all lower the latency in his options after you installed 2.lower the latency in the options in every vst standalone or kontakt player and many others 3. The result depends on the quality of your laptop 4.recomended latency to use in asio4all 96 or 128. Hope this help you

@@Leuvre Use ASIO. You could always try and find a DAW with low latency so you don't run into as much problems.

Definitely between the Ravenscroft and the Garritan. Leaning towards the Ravenscroft. The Sonniculture would be 3rd for me.

I sometimes also get these clicks. Try to wait a couple of minutes before rendering the project in FL because it needs to load stuff it seems. If you wait and still get clicks, probably the plugin can't get its samples fast enough from your hdd. Do you use a SSD? Then I would be quite surprised

I have never heard the Noire, but I find it a little disturbing ha! low notes are overly pronounced. Definetively Garritan is the best, I need urgently a good midi controller! thanks for the comparison!
@kaii71473 жыл бұрын
I have noire I really like it but it pales in comparison to garritan. I'll most definitely be getting garritan soon. I really need a proper Midi controller. my piano isn't really designed for specific vst use but it does a good enough job. Ravenscroft is also very good do u know if that the recording your doing is used using a different mic setting it sounds very far away from the mic I was wondering if you have closer mic options?

I use the Garritan CFX for my more recent videos, I use the Pearl Concert D ocassionally for slower pieces but the velocity layer transitions are too harsh, I think it's like 4 layers. Vintage D was my old favorite but the Concert CFX has exceed it. Someone brought up Pianoteq, I dislike the way it sounds and I don't care how much playability it has if it sounds like plastic. Now my dream would be if the guys from Garritan sampled a Steinwey, Fazioli or Bosendorfer like they sampled that CFX. I think those other instruments arguably sound nicer in real life but that CFX was just sampled too good.
@Erainia5 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer the cfx over the bosendorfer pianos, but faziolis definitely sound incredibly, though at the same time have a less linear sound and very much their own fazioli character. The f308 is an absolute monster though hahaha
@PianoMavs5 жыл бұрын
The faziolis definitely have a distinct character, I've used the Imperfect Samples Library and it really sounds organic and realistic.
@rmullhaupt4 жыл бұрын
I was lucky enough to have learned to play on a C7 and it's the sound I've grown to love more than any other, so the Garritan CFX is like a dream come true for me - I can't believe I'm just finding out about it now. Yamaha make a damn good grand piano.

Great comparisons. Some of your deep bass notes are getting chopped off because of short lengths of the MIDI and the pedal should be down longer too. It sounds unnatural for the kind of piece this is.
