You should click the little chain icon in Logic's UI (top Right) - so you can change tracks and the open plug-in window will update to show you the plug-in UI automatically. Makes life MUCH easier when that blasted window updates without you closing and opening each one over and over and over and over. :D

Thank you for this review. I use the CFX a lot, but indeed I miss the dynamic range setting. What do you think of PianoTeq? Modelling for maximum tweaking?
@PeterJamesProductions
@PeterJamesProductions 5 жыл бұрын
It felt a little lifeless to me. Although it's a great option if you don't want a sample based piano though

What does the "Dynamic Range" knob in the advanced tab of Garritan CFX do, if it doesn't adjust the dynamic volume range of the samples like on the other pianos?

The only one I haven't seen mentioned is Waves' Grand Rhapsody. It's another CPU-heavy one, but I like it's quality. Would love to hear your take on it though!

Would’ve loved if you went deeper in to the CPU usage. Which would you recommend for low CPU? Also any thoughts on the Ravenscroft 275?
@PeterJamesProductions
@PeterJamesProductions 2 жыл бұрын
Any of the Native Instrument Pianos are very CPU friendly. I like the Ravenscroft, but don't love it. My go to these days is Embertone's Walker D (hammer perspective). But it's very CPU heavy.

Peter James, which keyboard controller did you use, and did you have to adjust MIDI velocity mapping(touch sensitivity) of your keyboard, in software or hardware, globally (same setting for all pianos) or individually for each piano?

Matthew Ryan Matthew Ryan I haven’t had a chance to really look at the Nior yet. But I’ve heard good things. I tried not to include suite type piano products in this review, but i think Keyscape’s biggest selling point is its more unique instruments and the fact you can open them inside Omnisphere and use the Steam engine to manipulate them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/an_Of36QZrWbotU

Nice comparison! How does the 'Piano in 162' compare to this bunch?
@PeterJamesProductions
@PeterJamesProductions 5 жыл бұрын
Darren Jurevicius The piano in 162 is a great free piano! But i feel it lacks velocity layers and hard to make a smooth transition from soft to loud because of that with this piano

It's a nice piano, but it's a C4 from memory so not as large as a full C7 grand for example, so a shorter soundboard. I did own it for a bit before I got The Giant, but I don't use it anymore.

@@PeterJamesProductions Thanks Peter. I have the Walker here as well and it is my most used piano along with NI Noire. However, I find the middle range lacks bite and attack when playing fortissimo compared to other areas of the instrument? It sounds as though the midrange sounds softer in attack?
@PeterJamesProductions
@PeterJamesProductions 2 жыл бұрын
@@richardpenrose1968 I haven’t noticed that actually, but I only use the Hammer perspective to get more definition out of the piano.
@richardpenrose1968
@richardpenrose1968 2 жыл бұрын
@@PeterJamesProductions I use the Hammer perspective as well but find there is an inconsistency in tone across the piano? Some notes sound thinner and more wirey and others sounds fuller but quite dull and lifeless? For example if you listen to the note C6 this sounds very thin and metallic compared to all the notes either side. I also find a wide range of the notes don't produce a true fortissimo tone. C3 makes this quite obvious when you compare this tone to C6. I'm considering the Garritan CFX as this appears to have a more consistent tone in the demos I've heard and can produce a better fortissimo tone?
@PeterJamesProductions
@PeterJamesProductions 2 жыл бұрын
@@richardpenrose1968 I love the overall tone and vibe of the Walker D, but haven’t listened as closely as you probably have to the individual velocity layers etc. Sometimes I find if a piano is too ‘perfect’ it sounds a bit stale and lifeless. But this is all personal preference in the end I guess.
