Right on! I dig that wall mounted configuration and it will make it much easier for you to access components when ya need to. It's cool that you stayed with the old wood theme and that expanded metal will look perfect. I can see it now! I can and will do a lot of things but I wouldn't have tackled an electrical job like that alone. Thank goodness for guys like Ron 'cause guys like me need 'em. Heh, heh. Well, congrats on getting that all done Seven, that will certainly open up some space for you to use. Good stuff! .......................................PEACE!!

I think this is a much better idea for ease of access to everything. Great Idea. Sometimes it just takes time to learn and plan improvements. Congrats.

Nice work, and a big project. That's coming up soon for me, cleaning up existing wiring and installing a 12V fuse box. I learn a bit more each time through.

Look great, bud. Just be very very careful with how close the positive and negative bus bars are to each other. DO NOT USE TOOLS IN THERE THAT DON'T HAVE INSULATED HANDLES.

Seems like all the van dwellers are all bundled up for the cold. I don’t remember that from watching you tube last year. Stay warm Seven.

It's been quite cold in the deep SW this year. Highs near 70 and lows around the mid 40s.

SW winter isn't too bad. just requires a coat & hat in the mornings and evenings most days... and on rare raining days I'll wear it all day. I rarely use heat in my rig (sometimes in morning or evening) and lots of blankets at night!

The box is great now - only missing a vent fan. The little ones from obsolete computers can be reused for this purpose. Have seen it done in other videos. Good going so far.

Yah I agree with the earlier commenter of the fan to vent out of the van for the battery box. Where did you find that fuse box I like the size and the bubble cover. I got the whiz bang jr to keep an eye by laptop. Wish they had an app. The ultimate dream for me is wind speed, cloudy sunny and battery voltage!😹 in one look! Also don’t forget you have to water those puppies and you want to be able to hover over them.

Is it possible to cook without propane? I've rung solar companies and van conversion companies and they say i have to have it to cook but i don't feelcomfortable with propane. Wish i could understand all the electrics you're doing but trying to learn !! I won't be able to to do it myself but need to understand it so i know what i need to have done !! I have a 1998 Mercedes Sprinter 170 wheel base. Would be really greatful for advice. Mimi

Look at induction cooktops. They do draw a lot of power, but in the long run it will be cheaper and better for a small space.
@stephaniesmythe8449
@stephaniesmythe8449 5 жыл бұрын
you can do it with an induction cooktop as mentioned previously, but you will need to have a lot of storage capacity and learn to be very efficient when you cook.

There's nothing to fear about propane. If possible mount the tank outside, but if that's not possible, try enclosing the tank and vent it to the outside. Use a good leak detect solution and soap all connections before use. Things to remember, propane is a heavy fuel and if it leaks in will be at floor level. You can actually us a broom and sweep it. It has a LEL (lower explosion level) of around 900 degrees. Where Natural Gas is lighter that air and the LEL is 1200 degrees. I'm retired after 37 years for a Nat Gas Company, I was a service technician for over 15 years.

I have several friends who cook without propane. my friend Ron is all electric with an induction cooktop and instant pot. my friend Joni does the same and all electric. my friend Andi and Dorthy use alcohol and wood burning stoves. that said, I think propane is a great option as long as you crack a vent or window
