i'm just learning about sublimation, and this is awesome! however, isn't this more of a heat transfer? I guess my question is this: is there a layer of material left on the shirt? if I've understood correctly this is just sublimating the design into the holographic heat transfer, not sublimating the design into the fabric's fibers?

Yes because you can not sublimate on 100% cotton, or on dark colors. This is a work around for those issues.

Great video, I love the effect, I have been making a few t shirts, mainly for experiment and have been cutting my design out as a circle around 7 inches diameter, its been a real pain to cut the circle with a tool I bought on Amazon, could you please let me know if its possible to do it on the Cricut machine ? thanks, Michael.

I tried doing this method last night, but I must have done something wrong. My sub paper literally bonded with the HTV I used and I couldn’t peel it up. When I tried to remove the sub paper it was stuck, then I noticed the HTV pulling up with it, but I really had to pull. The sub paper ended up tearing like trying to remove a sticker. Any idea what I did wrong? Thanks!

Thanks so much Tracy, I'm glad they've been helpful! 🤩 The shirt has held up well after washing it. I always make sure to wait a few days before washing so the HTV has time to cure. Then when I do wash it, I turn it inside out, wash it on cold without fabric softener and hang it to dry.

Hello! New to your channel! I had an issue with the holographic stuff. Why would it not weed? It wouldn't peel up or separate. I've been crafting for quite some time, but have not tried this before... what does this wash like? I'd think, since the ink is not being infused INTO the shirt, but rather ON TOP of vinyl, it would rinse/fade off after a wash or two. If I'm wrong, please let me know as I would be interested in trying this method.

I think I understand what is occurring, but please let me know if I'm incorrect. When you're sublimating the image, isn't it sublimating into the vinyl nd not to the shirt itself? If so, then wouldn't the image wash out? When an item is truly sublimated into a fabric, it should stay there for the entire life of the shirt, but in tis case, I don't think it will.

Hello I was helping my eldest sister learn how to sublimate onto a red shirt for our mother. We used white sublimation HTV and followed your steps to the letter. However after a few tries we still couldn't get the image to show its vibrant colors. It was as if the white HTV absorbed the color making it dull looking. Do you have any tips on how to sublimate the image so it shows up clear and bright.

Wow! That's beautiful! I would like to see if the colors stayed more true on the lighter holographic htv. It seems the Moonlight slightly changed the colors.
