Appreciate Doctor Patrick tigercat letting you film the winch swappin. I have to do my dozer cable solo, I use two 4x6 blocks bolted together around the cable to squeeze it and add drag as it spools on. Lotsa bar oil soked into the wire for my yearly service.

I completely agree with you winch cable is nothing to mess with no matter what you are doing with it. I had a 98 Chevrolet suburban hooked on my winch cable on my 53ft gooseneck flatbed trailer from when I picked it up to transport it. The Auction manager was going through my paperwork to make sure everything was there they needed to sell it and while we were doing that 1 of the Auction worker jump on to the trailer to unhook all the straps to unload it but never asked me because we usually unload are own trailers Everytime. I noticed he was about to put it in neutral and release the park brake and I tried to get his attention and jumped on the trailer to stop him next thing I know I hear a loud sound from the cable getting broke off the winch took out both of my legs flipped me off the trailer on to the ground landing on my head. Both of my legs were cut thru the skin and muscle to the bones. That was the scariest thing I have been through and I have gone through some serious shit in my life. I got hit by a drunk driver split my head wide open from front to back broke 6 in my neck and 15 in my back and I use to be a professional freestyle Motocross rider an I have been through some serious crashes learning new tricks.

Milwaukee builds the best battery powered Tools in my opinion... We have a bunch of different M18 Fuel Brushless and M12 Tools and we use either the 9 amp or 12 amp batteries for the extended runtime. Barely 5 years ago, we never thought we would have used a battery powered tool much in the Collision Auto Body Repair Business, a friend of Mine Owns.. Air is still the Primary Tool but The Milwaukee's get a lot of everyday use at least 5 days each week, every week... Besides just simply wearing out an individual Milwaukee Tool, I can't think of any, that have broke or given a battery issues and we haven't had any bad battery or charger issues up to this point either after a few years of running them....

Glad to see they got it fixed. I am curious what Model Winch it is. You can have 3 Different Model Pipelayer/Sidebooms, all three are using the Same 30,000 rated Lift Winch. All three have a Different Capacity one has a 90,000 Cap, 140,000 Cap, & 200,000 Cap, the difference is all 3 are using Different Size Load Blocks. One has a 4 Part, one has a 6 Part, and one has a 8 Part. When we do Derailment Work we use the Larger Size Load Blocks to Increase the Lift Capacity if the Machine. Also on Almost All Hydraulic Winches you Highest Pulling Capacity is on a Bare Winch Drum, for some reason their Capacity Derates as the Drum Fills Up with Wire. When it comes to Dozers & Pipelayer/Sidebooms the Two Main Brands are Carco & Allied/Hyster. I Prefer Allied as they are the only one that Makes a PTO Winch for a Dozer Larger than a D6. Carco quit making PTO Winches for the Cat D7-D8 & Larger Machines. PTO Winches don’t derate as the drum fills up, they have the Best Pull Capacity. The Allied W12E PTO Winch has a 140,000 Line Pull Capacity Bare or Full Drum. The H12E Hydraulic version of that Winch Derates down to 96,000 Pounds as that Drum Fills Up.

Everybody's saying how great the Milwaukee is, but from what I saw in this video and the one with the piston nut, the pneumatic guns still had to come finish the job. I'm not saying it's not an impressive tool especially for its size, but not quite up to pneumatic power, unlike Milwaukee's 1/2" drive guns. I'm sure it would be perfect for HD truck maintenance. Thanks for the real world testing.

big impact airflow issues.. invest in a 5 or 7 gallon tire fill tank. take out the factory fill fitting. change over to what ever size pipe.. install a Tee with the tee straight thru into the tank.. not out the side of the tee.. use a 10 foot long hose in 1/2" or 3/4" on a hose barb onto the tee without a quick connect.. put a hose barb in the end of the hose that you can thread directly into your air impact when you take your quick connect out. on big guns its going to be probably 1/2" but look at your impacts. on the side of the Tee install a bushing reducer and which ever quick connect plug you have for your big hose.. now you have a surge tank to boost break away pressure at your impact.. no more few hits and then a slow down.. you should be able to get 5 to 7 seconds of full torque before the air pressure drops. you do have a choice of installing a ball valve with another tee and hooking in a second regular size air hose quick connect plug.. so you can hook both big hose and the normal hose to the surge tank.. yes its a pain to carry this extra tank around.. but its a needed tool when things are crazy tight..

I can tell you have a great relationship with your mechanics. But here's a word of advice from a contractor. If you've got a tradesman on site dont offer tools unless they ask. I understand you're making movies and advertising for Milwaukee. But all that 1 inch gun did was make the job longer. It's too hot to use a tool that might work when you've got one on the truck that you know will work. I dont mean any disrespect and I hope you dont take this the wrong way

Does Patrick do t-shirts and stickers? How can we get his autograph? ;-) One of our truck engineers at the motor company Research place I worked at, once forgot to unlatch the tailgate on a twenty yard dump truck while tipping a full load of sand, and tipped it over backwards onto its rear end. So one of the truck fitters set up to pull him back down with a steel cable to another dump truck. The engineer was too nervous to climb down, and insisted on staying in the cab. Well the cable broke at the tow truck end, and whip lashed back taking out the other truck's screen scaring the engineer half to death. It was not far off being all the way to death, and he was one lucky bugger that day. We had at least one fatal accident when two engineers were weaving a light truck through cones and tipped it onto its side. The passenger had been sitting with the window open and his arm outside, and fell out of the truck and was crushed beneath it, (obviously not wearing his seat belt). Come to think of it, we had at least one other fatal, and a good few close calls and badly injured from accidents. One engineer saw flames following him while driving a company car. He stopped, jumped out and ran, and was still blown onto his face moments later. The retaining straps of the fuel tank had broken, and the steel tank dragged along the road leaking petrol and making sparks, but instead of an apology for nearly killing him, he got bollocked for putting in a claim for the leather jacket that was burned on the back seat.
