When I was younger, I would climb trees if they were still sturdy and cut out limbs and cut the trunk into chunks. Now in my mid 60’s I no longer climb trees. The last one I cut I used a lift, that has been a few years. These days I stay on the ground.

Never have pine near your house.

We live on 8 acres of THICK north Georgia woods. Big trees near houses are a disaster waiting to happen. Since buying this place in 2012, I have had nearly 30 BIG trees taken out around the house and around the pool. We have had probably 2 dozen big trees fall around the property - a few on the long driveway up to the street. I've spent lots of time clearing out big trees that have fallen across the driveway and around the pool. A HUGE co-dom white oak got struck by lightning two years ago, and one of the huge trunks (30" across!) fell across the driveway, hitting and bringing down a very large pine tree near it that also fall across the driveway. It took me a WEEK to clear out that mess! And about 6 years ago, a massive white oak north of the pool fell in a bad storm and knocked out couple of other smaller trees, and one of those fell into the pool area, landing directly on the big rock slide, which at least prevented it from crushing a section of the steel fence around the pool. Took me more than a week to clear that out, too. Trust me, you DON'T want trees too near your house, especially dead ones, or you will eventually end up with the kind of damage shown in the video. We had a giant pignut hickory with a 30" trunk taken down last June that was only 20 feet from the house. That thing was absolutely MASSIVE, and when it was taken down we found rot going up inside the main trunk going 20 feet up from the ground. Plus, the nasty thing dropped THOUSANDS of hard pignuts on the driveway every year. It was a beautiful tree, but I'm glad it's gone, as well as the slightly smaller oak next to it that we also had taken down at the same time. If any of the HUGE branches of that gigantic hickory had fallen on the house, it would have been devastating. We also had the two remaining big stems of a formerly three-stem river birch taken down at the same time. My wife loved that river birch, but one of the remaining stems was leaning precariously in the direction of our upper back deck. I convinced her that it had to go by simply asking "Would you like that river birch to take out the upper deck when it falls?" And guess what... the remaining two stems were partially HOLLOW inside and would have fallen on the deck sooner rather than later!

There are only 2 kinds of big pine trees - those that are going to fall sooner and those that are going to fall later.

Looking at the existing debris on that roof, it's pretty obvious that someone wasn't paying attention to the condition of their yard....

I was worried about that happening to my house or vehicles so I cut down all the trees around my house and garage to be safe

Any jobs lately you feel like the smaller Kubota would be a better option than the Hyundai?
