That drone shot with the jumping dolphin is spectacular, so good it almost looks fake😂

On the Catalan coast we have many dolphins who come to play with the sailors, and we had even more luck admiring them for almost an hour!! It wa really a wonderful moment!

i like aft helms with a nice large cockpit personally, but I am sure someone will appreciate this.

I saw it in Annapolis. This is the catamaran that could make me switch from mono because of the front cockpit. This is a cat made for sailing. On Long passages, I would much rather be in that well protected space where I can socialize with everyone else, my kid can come talk to me without having to go outside, and where I have access to the foot of the mast or the front without having to go around on the side deck.

@constantinealexandrakis not me. I only want to sail from the aft position, sitting out on the rail. I can go inside on my auto pilot on long passages.

@mattinacan right! But that's the issue. If you need to reef or something else happens you have to go out the back, and maybe go around the side deck if you need to go to the mast, which could be tricky especially in rough weather and at night. Typically, in rough weather, what I see in videos is the person on watch sitting isolated at the helm located in a "cubicle" by the aft cockpit and everyone who wants to talk to them must come out. I don't see that as a good thing. It may be OK if you're not on the move much but not if you want to do serious sailing. I would much rather be connected and protected close to the mast, with better visibility, less chaffing because lines don't run aft, safer for me and my family, and if i want to feel the spray on my face and wind in my hair open the front hatches and close the sliding cockpit door behind me. Especially if I want to spend considerable time at sea rather than at anchor. But I understand that different strokes for different folks.

@@TobyRobertsThe Not in any stretch of the imagination is the forward cockpit the same as the helm being on the roof. If you look at the Lagoon 51 videos you can see that they have a hard cover over the flybridge with solar on that.

Because there aren't enough flybridge cats to choose from? 😂 Forward twin helm is the best solution for cats for so many reasons. It's counter-intuitive, but once you sail on one and you will see all the benefits that flow from this one decision.
@clivestainlesssteelwomble76656 ай бұрын
@@robmalcolm1965 Totally agree with this.... This and the DeepBlue Rapier r 550 it's precursor are the only radically different and logical cats built to date ..a close second is the Maine Cats 38.. which is more of a lightweight minimalist sports design ..but has a helm under cover and at the foot of the mast in the center of the boat. I also think the helm above is counter productive especially in rough conditions. Though I can understand the desire for a vessel that has the Windelo's Green material Basalt and propulsion systems. The barefoot doctors did a very good deep dive into the vessels functions last week. They are building an Al cat but they opted for a forward internal helm and a raised helm.... But.. .having explored and talked through the Windelo they quickly gained an appreciation for its layout. The other thing is these vessels are like modern cars in that they use multiple cameras that can see better in the dark than the human eye many times .
