Thanks and yes, I think the vast majority of gamers aren't the hyper min-maxers :) but I appreciate that there are those who want to get the most out of everything in a game, I just don't have time to be them right now ;)

Something that would be helpful as a guide for new players is explaining how expeditions work and what weapons/abilities work best, can you get away using a weapon that has reduced damage against those mob types if you use those gems that change your damage type %, which skills/weapons are great for aoe, do you want specific traits/buffs etc, what if your weapons have great aoe abilities but meh single target or the opposite etc?

As a Healer, i found Heavy to be kind of necessary if you want some leniency towards mistakes. Medium is not quite enough protection against getting hit in the harder areas of the game. Light you are pretty much 1 shot by anything you get hit by vs the 66 mobs. In group content i find light to be far superior due to your role as a healer, just make sure you have some threat reducing perks if u run a Light setup.

It can be a bit of both, if you're not getting drops that benifit you, go to the markets and fill in, otherwise craft it yourself, crafting yourself will benifit you a ton later in the game.

Can you make a video covering how stats work more in-depth. How much dmg is 1 strength compared to 1 dex for the SS? Also good ways to get weapon xp. I'm a returning player and just don't know if I'm doing it the best I can.

So for Str vs Dex, you'd be looking at STR being rated at .9 for each point and Dex being .65 for each point. When you see a split stat weapon, that's how the break down goes in terms of their value. For single stat weapons is just 1 point = 1x for damage. Hope that makes since. :)

So I just started playing New World and I was running medium equip load…. Is there any reason to do this or would o be better off going light or heavy equip load? Thanks in advance! P.s. I want to focus PvP around lvl 40

I'd push you into Light at least until the October update rolls out, some changes to the PTR will hopefully give heavy some advantages, right now, light is the best way to pvp from my experience.

My problem as a new 60 (about 2 weeks played)... is wanting to take part in PVP... and how terribly balanced the game is for it. Which is shocking since that's the broad purpose to the game, the PVP elements. However you cannot just pick your favourite weapons and think you'll be fine in PVP. I was so excited to hit 60 and dive in, as I had heard the game had PVP balancing/scaling. This lead me to believe that skill is the main defining factor for such content, but it truly is not. For example, as a fresh 60 with around 568 GS, no special perks (just some basic refreshing, keen, luck, etc), and no 'meta' weapon/build choice (just what I thought felt good to me with Greataxe and Hatchet)... I am left to drink my own tears if I come across someone in full 625 BIS perks gear rocking 'meta' weapons such as bow/spear, rapier/ice gaunt, rapier/sword and board, etc. The amount of times I've been not only deleted, or just outright been not able to hit someone.... is insane. Or for instance, fighting someone with a full Shirking Heals set of gear, so they heal practically 2k every time they dodge, and have other perks/mastery choices that allow them to dodge 4-5 times without zeroing out on stamina. And trust me... I've been practicing. I've been taking part in duels every day, been sitting on fort captures every day... If they are rocking a meta build and set of gear, they win, without even breaking a sweat. I've dueled people on my level, similar GS, budget PVE gear on, etc. No problem facing them. Even if they are using meta builds, I generally can go toe to toe, or win, provided they don't have 3,000,000 gold worth of gear equipped. It's just very demoralizing, and its made me feel like not logging in lately. I've pushed myself as GA/Hatch for my whole time playing the game, and thus started investing into gear that would benefit that when I hit 60... yet it feels like a wasted play. I feel like I am heavily pressured into considering playing what is META, and thus will have to revisit finding all new gear, and gaining tons of mastery for all new weapon types (not to mention learning the feel of those weapons). PVE? No problem. I can always hold my own in PVE. But while I love PVE, I would also love to take part in what this game was made for. The wars, OPR, open world PVP, fort control, etc. At least that's my take on it. New players suffer HEAVILY in this game (at least in PVP)... You just can't stand against the people who have spent months earning BIS gear, and copied some guide they read online. I hate meta builds... oh yay, congratulations you can't figure out anything on your own, you mimic someone else who figured it out for you. Couple that with the abyssmal 'balance/scaling' they apparently have... and as soon as someone figures out a way to OTK people... everyone is gonna follow suit.

The overwhelming majority of people do not have BIS gear, and in all liklihood you aren't actually running into them all that often. A lot of returning players are in the exact same position as you. The only thing that is absolutely necessary for PvP at this point is resilient, which reduces crit damage (and only works in PvP). If you're running into PvP with PvE gear on, I don't care what your GS is. You're not going to do well. You can buy a full set of resilient + x + gem slot purples for well under 10k on the market. And if you're patient about what you buy and when I'm sure you could even find a full set of resilient + freedom/weapon perk for under 10-15k. Fresh 60 with 568 GS can still put in a lot of work in NW's various PvP modes, but yea you're not going to be able to M1 straight into your enemy endlessly and expect it to work unless you are rocking really great gear. There's actually quite a lot you can do in OPR with gathering that will vastly improve your team's chances of winning and make it easier for you to fight players with better gear (battle bread, build doors, summon wraiths/bears). You have to play with your team and stop fighting them fair. Fight them with your team lol. Regardless of build or whatever, I don't understand why you expect to do ok on your own against players who have played the game way longer than you. You need to buy a bear bones PvP build and play with your team more until you get your expertise up.
