New World's banning issues have always been a problem. They can't actually tell who's exploiting so anyone reported in mass gets banned. In situations where, like you said, multiple people film it, they just apply the same 24hr ban as a random mass report. I've had a 24hr ban for "exploiting bow rapid fire" even though I record every second of my gameplay and never even attempted it. It's just because I use pen and rapid shot and you have a lot of stupid players who can't even tell the difference.

I'm sure there are a lot more such words/emojis, but that was the word I tested and was blown away that is actually gave me the ban -1 of the journalists' interviews with the devs reported that with New World: Aeternum, players without RotAE will now be able to enter the area, even though they won't unlock the related questlines and they'll be at a disadvantage against Level 65+ enemies -Everything about the devs' wording in the Q&A video and other sources makes it seem like we can't count on anything for the game's future. They've said they'll continue the seasonal cadence, but without mentioning anything basic like Season Passes or Seasonal Trials; I feel like they could release a small balance & bug-fix patch every 4 months and argue that they were holding true to their word.

I havent seen anyone talking about it, but even for someone who would come back in October for f4a pvp, I'm concerned about how it will turn out. I've played enough games to know how it will go - if you think that as a solo player you will stand any chance you are strongly mistaken. Just because you can hurt everyone it won't stop people from grouping up. People from the same companies will help each other and solos will be hunted down by big zergs. Players will absolutely do anything to gain an advantage and game the system. I cant see how they make it an enjoyable experience. The most fun I've ever had was during beta tests and when the game first launched - just runing around with pvp on and blasting each other during leveling. I dont think they can come close to this experience with f4a island.

All the time I was like „the devs are trying their best and they work on things to make their customer happy and they really know what they do(, trust!)“ but when they made the dev Q&A and Scott revealed the roadmap they totally destroyed any trust in their abilities. And that leads me to the next question: to enter a new market is a great way to get new customers, but do they really think about that you will transfer your brand to that market too? It was said during this video, but NW should have had a monthly sub of some sort. The shop items and season passes clearly aren't providing enough money for consistent content updates. People hop in for a short bit for the new content, then leave for many months until the next new thing comes if it's enticing enough. They could have gone with something similar to ESO/FO76 having an optional monthly sub that has non-p2w convenience benefits. I think this is one of the biggest reasons for lack of content and them having to pivot to console for a cash injection.

Yea, it's nothing about flaming them / being toxic etc... It's literally just, their servers economies are getting completely monopolised by PC players. The PvP they're going to get utterly destroyed, any experienced PvPer is going to be able to 1v5+ on release, and I'm not even exaggerating. I realise AGS haven't sold them the game as an MMO so they're expecting an ARPG, but the ARPG element only lasts till level 65, then you're playing an MMO again. Ask literally any War player, do you wish Wars were more accessible they'll say yes. But they don't want to have to be the side which loses the war in the process in order to make it accessible to new players. Gatekeeping is a component in why people leave, but ultimately it's because the Dev's do not care. They have outwardly said that 2% of their player-base engaging in Wars is a problem they're not willing to fix. I don't see why it is the 2%'s fault here. (I am not bias, I no longer war, nor really care for it, but the reason I don't care for it, is because the Dev's have made it difficult to care about). Ultimately the reason people leave is because they can't get into the only competitive endgame repeatable content (wars), or because there is no other endgame, in both scenarios the Developers are to blame, not the few players who invest enough time to be picked for the wars. I can't lie, it is a very odd take to blame the players in the scenario, when the entire scenario was created by the Developers. I can guarantee War gatekeeping would not be a problem if Wars were server-wide and open-world for instance, or practice Wars allowed players the opportunity to engage in the War experience without any risks. I will say the developers have done their fair share when it comes to ensuring the market is balanced - it is, it's quite favourable for new players really, gear is far cheaper than it used to be, and resources are accessible and not-monopolised at all once markets are established.

In other words, anyone who does do this is engaging in cognitive dissonance. Now I'm not excusing cognitive dissonance, I think it's an extremely polarising topic most shy away from. A reasonable stance to hold. But I'm not entirely sure it's quite so applicable when you consider the opportunity cost, as someone else from the 98% will simply replace you (as the 2% is the maximum that can participate), the only way this doesn't happen is if more than 98% of the player base refuse to war. That's not going to happen, so in this regard you need enough of an outcry from the player base as a whole, that AGS would do something. Except we've had that, people talk and talk about how Wars are gatekept and AGS do not care. This is AGS's problem, not the players, they've made their positions clear. In October, NW is going to have to compete with two real ARPG's. Diablo 4 Expansion, which most people I know have already preordered on day 1 of the announcement. Not only will they have to compete with D4E on sales but also on Twitch and other streaming platforms. Good luck with that. Then there is the possibility of POE2 coming out in October. POE2 has a lot of hype and is another true ARPG. Also, its free. NW will also have to compete with that on stream. They might get asmongold/shroud or some other big streamers to stream it for a few days, but thats all it will be cause there is no way those top streamers are going to pass up on streaming D4/POE2.

At this point I feel like they are using New world as a practice run for Lord of the Rings, like a playground to fuck around and see what doesn't work. Seems like a rather expensive experiment so maybe I am wrong, but aside from milking money from console players, I am not convinced that pleasing the player base is their priority anymore. Edit: I would bet money that console players don't get any special treatment after their game purchase is made.

Got over 4k Hours, had fun, had way to high hopes and copium all the time and now im done. I may take a look at NW:Aeternum, but the game lacks a direction and worthwhile content down the pipe. Still wish everyone who is hopefull or on full copium the best and lots of fun

I'm beginning to think that this is yet another game where devs/publisher experiment with how much the player base is willing to take before they leave. Companies that have another more popular IP (or in the works). Rockstar doesn't give a shit about Red Dead Online (GTAO is their main game), Epic has been neglecting Save the World since Fortnite Battle Royale came out and AGS is working on LOTR and fucking NW fans over. AND PEOPLE KEEP PLAYING. It's mind boggling to me. Complaining 24/7 in all of these subreddits yet people refuse to leave. No wonder the devs don't give a shit about the masochist player bases. Not defending them, because I liked all of these games but I stopped playing months ago. People still playing is a depressing case study.

Their customer service and PR skills are atrocious. They remind me of some of the worst reviewed companies here in the US like Comcast which is legendary for their bad customer service. One thing they are very bad is making their long term players, basically super regular customers feel appreciated. When a business is not doing well it is the regulars who stick it out the longest. It is when you lose the regulars as well that a business often folds. And the people running New World somehow don't realize this.

No MMO can survive depending on the constant acquisition of new players. As an MMO becomes "old" the flow of new players naturally decreases, so the best survival strategy is to maintain a loyal playerbase that continues to monetize the game for months and years. There are people who are looking for a "game for life" and will happily spend money on the game they are attached to. NW devs simply gave up on this goal, because they saw that they couldn't build a profitable enough playerbase (and they had literally 1 million daily players at launch, but they couldn't retain even 1% of that) and now they are trying a new desperate strategy to sell the game as an "action RPG", trying to survive through the constant flow of new players who buy, play for a few months and leave. By kicking their own playerbase, they doomed NW to never have the lifecycle of a true, healthy MMO.

That doesn't hold with buy to play. The purchase is up front so the profit is too. The playing of the game provides the company no revenue in itself. As such, profitability requires a focus on selling the game to new players rather than maintaining those current. The strategy you reference was from back in the day when revenue came from game purchase and subscription both. Retaining players back then provided a steady stream of revenue so it was important to not only do so but increase their numbers. That's no longer the case save for those few MMORPGs left that can demand a subscription for ongoing play, only WoW and FFXIV at this time so far as I know.

@@kevinarnold8634 The classic monetization format is in fact subscription, but currently there are alternatives and New World was trying the alternative of the battle pass and the ingame store. This is how in theory the game could continue making profits, even with a smaller influx of new players. The problem is that neither the battle pass nor the store offer enough compelling content for players to spend money frequently. So New World has failed in both monetization attempts. It fails to increase sales to new players and fails to monetize enough within its playerbase. Trying to reach the console market is the last desperate attempt and we will see in the coming months if it will have any success.

I would have left and not started playing at all if the game had been a subscription. The problems of the game are the lack of content and a change in monetization will not change it. f2p will give a greater increase in funds due to the battle pass, skins and experience boosters

It feels so rushed that they are trying to reinvent the game and completely change playerbase. They could have done more to make a good game that was plenty successful on PC, I think.
