for the longest time what is the best weapon gem for dps, from what I read it's always one or the other and the question is Diamond or Elemental?

I think its just preference tbh. Diamond will give more damage but wont have 100% uptime, where as element will do slightly less (as only 50% is converted and can miss out on attribute threshold bonuses), but will have 100% uptime. Can depend on build and what attributes you use, as some attribute bonuses will boost physical damage, and others elemental. Also there's perks that can impact too, like if you are using harnessing perks.
