I really loved that despite it being a story in New World it wasn't really anything about the main story bits or anything of that sort. Besides the reincarnation bit it was it's own story within the world and man it was so well done. I know it got renewed for a 2nd season but I really hope this becomes a normal thing. So many games they can make little stories for, super digestible as you don't need to commit 20-30min each episode and is concluded in the one, and this is one of the best ways to advertise a game. Exodus from the 2nd batch of episodes is from a game that was announced a while ago but we also just got some more gameplay footage on it the other day. Although the game doesn't look anything as dramatized as the episode was, it added so much more world building to it.

This was without a doubt my favorite episode of secret level. It was an homage to Arnold Schwarzenegger and his legacy in film and society. The episode was littered with easter eggs and notably my favorite was the very last second of the episode, you finally see him crowned king with his silhouette against the ships crown.

New World is one of those games where the aesthetic or concept fucks hard (I love the whole age of exploration aesthetic; the long-coats, the muskets, all that yo-ho-ho, so I might be biased), but it's kind of a turnoff on being a live-service, online multiplayer game. Like, it's not bad, I enjoy it, I'm not saying it's a bad multiplayer game, but I feel like it'd be a good single-player game; like the plot it has feels like it should be (the story makes it seem like you specifically are the main character or hero; I know a lot of mmos do this, it just feels more apparent when you're making dialogue choices in cutscenes, they're fallout 4 dialogue choices where the choices are all "yes", but they're still choices none-the-less), like the only reason I've done multiplayer stuff like raids or dungeons is to progress main quests. Other games that had this curse because of aesthetic, story, or otherwise: Hunt Showdown, For Honor, Conan Exiles (which you can play single-player; it's just made with online multiplayer in-mind, like there's player-owned servers), Fallout 76, to name a few.

Is new world still alive? Every time amazon makes a game it is cancelled before it is supposed to come out. I remember hearing about this game but I don’t play mmo’s like that so I didn’t really care. Wish they would make a single player game and put it on consoles.
