That was the final nail in the coffin. Nolan was already affected by his time on earth. All those horrible words he spoke were simply him trying to convince himself. He kept trying to suppress his emotions to fulfill the mission. It's a lot like Zuko acting like a jerk and lying to himself on purpose to justify his own mission.

Weird facts for people who haven't read the comics (and are no longer spoilers): 1) Cecil's first appearance would have been at Mark's bedside after the beating from his father. Before that, we knew nothing of the GDA. Instead of interacting with Cecil, Mark teams up with his father a lot more. 2) Debbie knew NOTHING about the GotG being murdered by Nolan, so the whole thing took her completely by surprise; she finds out when someone leaks the GDA footage and audio to the news. Nolan is outed as the killer when Immortal arrives, not because of an investigation. 3) After meeting at Mark's house where William gives his knowledge of Mark's secret identity away, Eve and William start dating. He doesn't come out as gay until college. 4) Damien Darkblood's investigation plotline is a joke. He takes the case much like the show, but is never a threat to expose Nolan. It would be like if this episode there was a post-credits scene where Darkblood walks into the GDA offices and tells them that he needs to inform Cecil that he's 90% sure that Omni-man killed the Guardians. They're bewildered and ask him if he hasn't watched the news for the past few weeks. End of his plot. P.S. Sorry if you're reading this on multiple videos, but I'm the kind of nerd who has a compulsion to tell others about the thing he finds interesting.

Omni-Man is legit my favourite character. He's been indoctrinated into this fucked up "Viltrumite master race" philosophy, literally for thousands of years. 20 years on Earth is like a small blip in his lifespan but he still ended up caring enough to basically betray his homeworld. Well said. One of the recurring horror themes in the show is how fucked up things can get when you leave the regular human's perspective of time relative to their lifespan, and Omni Man's betrayal is a great example of that concept. When you have the perspective of a person that has already lived for a thousand years and will continue living for thousands more, you will naturally develop a vastly different set of values compared to a person who will die before a single century passes. Mark responding to his father with love despite being shown hatred and contempt is such a powerful moment. Considering how the comics go, I'm not sure how they'll adapt future arcs given how fucking brutal the subway scene is. It's hard to see Omni Man as anything other than a villain or a threat that NEEDS to be put down after that display of destruction
