@@98erics - For the same reason The Marcy Brothers don’t have a Grammy and are no longer in the business. Marketing. They recorded “Achy Breaky Heart”, but it went nowhere. Billy Ray Cyrus picked it up…you know the rest. Happens a lot. Prince wrote and recorded “I Feel For You”. It went nowhere. Chaka Khan recorded it and it sold over one million copies. No problem for Prince. He received huge royalties as the songwriter.

She mentions she was drunk, but that's not the case here. It sounds like she was using an autotune rig which a lot of singers do. It sounds as if its set to the wrong key. I feel like the drunk part is an excuse so she doesn't have to mention her rig. If you work in touring/music you know a lot of artists use them.. its not a big deal. I've also been to karaoke with a lot of blacked out singers and they sound great... sooo, I feel this is more of an excuse so she doesn't have to admit using a rig. Maybe a combination of both.

I host karaoke every week. Good singers can get drunk enough to suck compared to usual. But they typically are aware of it, she seems like she thinks its going ok, she even tried that stupid embellishment, which I hate when people do that. This time it was particularly awful.

I am a music expert and I can see that this "fiasco of the Star Spangled Banner" starts when she purposely misses a few of the opening rising notes, since even though I am too shy myself to sing that anthem, I know every note AND every lyric word in that Francis Scott Key song. She was off-pitch in some notes on "rockets red glare" and "bombs bursting in air." And more missed notes. Pyrotechnics did go off right on cue with these words, but still, the off-pitch notes meant that this rendition of the Anthem is going to tank fast right into her abyss. Very unacceptable and contemptible. Everybody was watching. Ingrid Andress will face a massive cancel culture, my two bits. Her country music fans and promoters will likely avoid her like the plague. And this means she may never sing country music again. Dolly Parton will likely cut off ties to Ingrid--probably forever. You do not mess a patriotic song of ours on purpose! This song is sung for a reason, and if you really trash it - it is like you do not appreciate the freedoms that America had provided for you.

She's trying to do what a lot of singers do these days, which is sing with a character voice. She's trying to sound all sexy and flinty, so when she's low and quiet she can't hear herself to be in tune. But she loses the vocal fry and flinty thing when she adds power and/or goes up in register, so she compensates by letting her pitch get loose with her vibrato to try and make it sound like it's more emotional. Kind of like how Alanis Morissette gets breathy and pops into falsetto at the end of phrases, trying to portray emotion. It's awful, but she's absolutely on trend. Every female vocalist out there thinks they have to sing like Frankie Valli with their mouth all wide and thin, or try and sound super sexy by being breathy and using vocal fry. First of all, just go be you... don't try to be someone you're not. Second of all, this is what happens when "we can just autotune it" is the name of the game. You have no idea how terrible they are until you hear them without it.
