New WPL C64-1 RTR vs My Build. Rc Crawlers

This has to be the best ready to run WPL has made yet! I will upgrade this to get the performance I like.

I like what WPL brings to the table. They hit that middle ground between toy and hobby. Their models are super affordable, upgradeable at a good price too, and they look fantastic. Not the most capable trucks, but for what they are, I like them!

I'm glad WPL made these. I WISH they would make an FJ-Cruiser Shell. You know what would be cool? An RC Scion xB and TC, both based on the D-Series.

I found it today at my place... 1st saw it i feel amazing because of how it look very great with that kind of bar at the front and the back... Of cos the wheels is absolutely my taste for a car like Toyota Hilux and another 4x4 car neither in real life or just RC type... Thanks for the video bro... Your build was killing it out there! I just got my white c24-1 body to finish up my cf build

I thought the electronics had been improved, the video reminded me a lot of the wpl c54. I'll have to change the electronics as soon as it arrives

you actually dont have to. According to WPL this is just on the review units. They say that the ones going to customers doesn't have the cut out issues.

@@RunThatRC Good to know! I was already ordering another hobbywing 1060 but I think I'll give the c64 a chance first. Can you tell me if a Li-ion 18650 battery will fit in it?

It does use the 18650 style batts. Only thing is they use that new wiring they have been using. I usually just cut out the stock connector for what I use most.

the body alone makes it worth it. I seen somewhere someone mounting a c24 body on a modded trx4m chassis. I would probably try one of those builds.

I dont know why they dont stick with the C24 electrics and motor/gearbox. No issues with that combo. Lovely truck tho, great video! 👍

Definitely works. This one with a 370 motor and v3 electrics or 1080 with your own radio gear. That can make this real good with this new gearbox. Run it on 3s and it has good control with some wheel speed as well.

Yo guys if u replaceable the axle on the wpl c64-1 with the axle on the c24 and reverse the diff u can use the c24 axle and it doesn't bind up and u can steer fully I have my servo mounted on the 3rd hole up that's how to fix the wpl c64-1 steering and binding guys hope helps someone

What motor does the RTR come with? Did you ever figure out why it was cutting out? I thought that I saw the headlights flickering when it cut out?

load protection. According to WPL the units that are going out to customers isn't going to have the cutting out issue. For us reviewers they just mentioned how to get rid of the cutout but they didnt inform me till after I made the video. Simple as jumping a wire on the board and no more issue.

I wonder if swapping the stock ESC/receiver with the ESC/receiver from the C24-1 would work better. Seems to handle the load better than any other model.

it might. I'm gonna install either a wpl v3 esc receiver or a hobbywing 1080 and a 370 motor. Should perform better just with that upgrade.

@darrenmackenzie1645 I think there is plenty of space under the hood to make it fit. Also a 370 motor from the wpl 2 speed should smooth this thing out a bit.

Oh, this is not a pro WPL add, with all those cut-offs. The new V3 electronics are still not good enough? That's rather dissapointing.

I was disappointed as well. They said the production versions don't have the issue but still cut off at a higher load range. I always replace electronics anyways and this is a great starting point for mods.

Maybe somebody will try to swap the stock motor with the one that has more turns count/lover rpm....😉 Maybe it will be another cheap upgrade, who knows...😶‍🌫️

I actually like my C54 rtr gearbox with a 1080 esc and 370 motor from the wpl 2 speed. This one needs that to perform to my liking.

imagine the rtr with the way the suspension is so smooth and installing a 2speed and 1080 esc. it would trail so scale imo.

I'm not sure what you mean? I am not doing a voice over. That's actually audio from the actually trail run and I have to say something so people know whats happening. There isnt going to be a cutout issue with the ones for sale thankfully. This is a pre sale unit. I'm not one of those channels that just expects you to just take my word. No sugar coating like some channels that receive free products and say nothing but good thing to take your money.
