Love the T7, I currently own and ride a 2020 MT-07. I’m convinced it’s the right ADV bike for me. One small problem, apparently Yamaha just wants riders in the U.S. to watch videos of other folks in virtually any other country riding them. Like other folks have commented here, the Tenere 700 is virtually unobtainable on dealer floors in the U.S. I’ve seen a couple over the past year at a local dealer, they were pre-sold long before they showed up. When one does pop up new or used they are marked up a ridiculous amount. Ask a dealer about ordering one, OK you’ll be 50th in line. Im sure Yamaha is enjoying the market demand. It’s kind of tough to stay enthused about a bike you probably won’t be able to buy. The RAID prototype is cool tech, not what I need for my real world, but very cool. I wonder how deeply a person will have to mortgage their soul to be able to afford a RAID?

Dakar 2 cylinder bikes were limited to 450cc under pressure of KTM in 2005. At that time BMW came with the HP2 Enduro to compete in the Dakar. KTM scrambled to get the 950 up and running, but due to reliability issues of the new 950 KTM, that was not going to be a serious match for the HP2. So KTM (biggest sponsor of the Dakar) had the rules for Dakar changed to keep the competition out.
@girishs17552 жыл бұрын
Not true. Hp2 enduros were not nearly as competitive as the 690 rallys. Even the 690s had to run airbox restrictions during the last year they competed against the 450s. KTM wont do their own customers over so.. get your facts right. The real reason they went with the 450s was because the factory big bores were doing ridiculous speeds on the dirt. It was just so that they slowed down.
@BMWHP22 жыл бұрын
@@girishs1755 Nope, that is clearly the answer that KTM boys would give. You talk bs about your KTM 690, that wasnt even build yet in 2005. Guess you where not old enough to ride bikes at that time? Who has to get their facts straight? I was talking about the renewed KTM 950 Super enduro R version that saw (officialy) daylight in 2006, that had much reliability issues. In the year 2005, that BMW planned to enter the Dakar again, with their big 1200 cc HP2 Enduro, KTM changed the rules for 2 cylinder bikes. THAT is 100% true and can be verified KTM was always OK with big twins as long as the name was KTM ( in 2002 Fabrizio Meoni even won the Dakar on a KTM LC8 950R.) The big BMW twins were dominating the Dakar in 1981,1983,1984,1985, and even 1999-2000, and it only stopped when BMW pulled the plug on Dakar. Then KTM had the market free, for many years. Until they heard that BMW was planning to build the HP2 Enduro. A 175kg production monster machine with standard 105Hp and 115 tq, that could do the Dakar without even to change oil or chains. KTM shit their pants and knew that the 660 (THAT was the bike at that time, NOT the 690.) was no match for that machine. So, in 2005 they ran to the Dakar org and pressured them in changing the rules for 2 cylinder bikes, so the HP2 could never enter. I was personally involved at the sideline with the developement and planned to enter the PD in 2005 with my HP2. I can tell you, that the complete HP2 enduro team was mighty depressed when we heard the news that we could not enter. I knew perfectly well what happend, and why. I have ridden the HP2 since 2005 for many years and in enduro's, and specially where it came to speed, never to be beaten bij any 660. www.motorcycledaily.com/2004/07/01july04_bigtwins
@girishs17552 жыл бұрын
@@BMWHP2 Firstly I dont own a 690. Secondly the 450 limit was introduced only in 2011 and not in 2005. You're probably talking about when the class became single cylinder from twins. It was'nt limited to 450cc back then. Still, I doubt KTM had so much clout back in 2005 as they were'nt so dominating during those times as they are now. I have nothing towards KTM or against BMW.

This is a very humorous video… The first thing a person needs to know is that the Tenere 700 itself and any variants aren’t and won’t be available in the USA. Watching videos on something you can’t get is pointless. Rumor has it the problem apparently is the bikes are made out of a rare material, Unobtanium… I’m a long term Yamaha fan (boat motors and WR250R), and have become very disillusioned with the company. It’s possible that they use a different material for non- USA bikes. From KZbin and Instagram it seems they aren’t rare across the rest of the world. Another thing apparently that might have occurred was that Yamaha spent 3.5 years marketing at great expense, and then forgot to produce the bikes. Other manufactures like Kawasaki, Honda, KTM, and Triumph seem to be able to deliver new model bikes to dealers. Even Yamaha can supply a few other models…BUT NO Tenere 700s. EVERY Yamaha dealer in the Pacific Northwest USA has a long waiting list for the bikes while at the same time the dealers are prohibited from ordering sufficient quantities. If you want a new mid-size Adventure motorcycle your choices are one of the 2022 KLR 650 variants (dealers have lots of them) or the KTM 890 Adventure. Fortunately those 2 are good choices. Another potential option is the CB500X. Pardon the sarcasm 🤣.

@@vtrack1963 No dealer markup but it was more $. my T7 had Yamaha accessories bolted on from the dealer including center stand, racks for panniers, left and right Yamaha panniers. @someguy50352 жыл бұрын
1. It will be prohibitively rare/hard to get. 2. It will be ridiculously expensive. 3. It will be 500lbs wet. The T7 dropped off my radar earlier this year when it became apparent that I wasn't going to be able to get one due to markups and Yamaha producing such small numbers of them. This bike will just exacerbate both of those issues.

There are two kinds of people would buy this bike. 1) Those who do Rallies; who are few, and who would most likely rather modify their own bikes. 2) People who have money to burn, who would like to think they would do a Rally. I have a T7 and the best thing about it, it’s a solid bike for most riders needs. Yet cheap enough if u felt a need to throw 2k into a suspension u can. It’s a a bike u can sensibility grow with as your skills increase. If you’re already an awesome dirt rider something like a KTM might be better. This is really Yamahas answer to KTM when it comes to dirt with a spin on Rallying.

hi everyone, Yamaha will never market this bike. no interest for the general public on the other hand to present a new model with a fork and rear shock absorber of much better quality than those sold to date would be more judicious. (I have had the T 700 Teneré for more than two years and I admit that the shock absorbers quickly reach their limits in loaded off-road driving even when driving quietly. I plan to keep this bike but to review the shock absorbers part which is a big flaw in this motorcycle.

A comprehensive reimagining of the production bike. I am most impressed with the suspension improvements. Unspoken is that fact that the T7 design is top heavy compared to KTM and BMW. Adding more fuel tanks up high on jacked up suspension makes it worse. This build reminds me of my 1997 KTM 620 ADV. When that 7 gallon fuel tank was full, you couldn’t change direction quickly. The newer split fuel tank design on the 790 and 890 really lowers the CG, and doesn’t get in the way of your feet when paddling off road like the BMW boxer motor. Ride one, you’ll appreciate how clever and effective this design is.
