Good afternoon Glenda! I cannot wait to see the new Yarns from Hobbii? I have never worked with an alpaca upscale alpaca in sample blend but I would make a shawl with it because alpaca supposed to be really soft? I have never used a cotton linen yarn I'm not a big fan of linen because I think linen and wrinkles. All of the colorways are beautiful and yes Glenda you're going for a rainbow! Yes I really like the two tunnel effect I think you should definitely put that blue in the project cuz it'll make a pop! I think that would make a beautiful shawl! Or baby blanket.

The Flax Linen is more like Macrame thread. I think anyway. But I really like all of the yarn shown. The colors are beautiful.

I think I would use the linen/flax to crochet plant hangers if you don't macrame or maybe a cute animal doorstopper. A highland cow or reindeer would be cute with this yarn too!

I'd use the linen yarn for maybe a lined tote or a sturdy grocery bag. It looks like it might hold up to abuse pretty well. Also linen needs some break-in time kinda like Red Heart does sometimes.

The flax linen would make a great lampshade because these are the types of fabrics that are being used now for light fixtures

I grew up in Europe at a time where all we had was natural fibers. I hate working with linen and just outright refuse to use it. It is very rough and tears up your hands. It doesn't even matter if it's just 10% linen. So unfortunately I can't tell you what to do with it. Alpaca on the other hand is one of my favorite fibers. It's warmer and softer than wool and is hypoallergenic. Recycled or upcycled yarn does tend to be not as soft though.😊

Your reviews are very informative. Thanks for that. Your projects (& the colors you chose) are lovely. As for the Florence flax linen, I was thinking it might be suited for craft baskets, or even macrame plant hangers to dress up your porch. Would love to see whatever you create! ❤ ❤ ❤

I love your choices for the samples. The flax linen is good for doilies or table runners. The alpaca would be wonderful for any wearable, shirt, scarf, hat, cowl, gloves or mits. The other yarn would be wonderful for wraps or shawls or scarves, hat or mittens or gloves.

Great review of this yarns. Thanks! Was on the hobbii web site and searched on KZbin for a Olivin yarn review and yours is really helpful, even to see how color shades looks on video compared to the web site photo. It have a better idea about what color to choose. I think summer tops or summer lacy dresses are good choices for what to do with Olivin yarn. Kind regards to everyone reading

The flax/linen is beautiful. The texture gives it eye-appeal. It’s more for macrame? But, it’s nice

Hi Glenda Beautiful yarn You can probably make a mat/basket with the flax/linen yarn I have only used acrylic,probably stay with it.
@kathywelch87224 ай бұрын
Interesting yarns. I only use acrylic or cotton yarn so my only suggestion would be the flax linen would make a basket or plant hangers. The soft yarns you could make shawls or other wearables. 🧶💜🙏🏻

Maybe the alpaca if its flowy enough a colorblocked tank top
@amybettencourt34044 ай бұрын
Yarn #1 Keep with the decorative items, being that it's not washable. If it could go in the washer, that would change. Yarn #2 Make anything wearable that either you want, or that you want to gift out. Alpaca is supposed to be awesome, and you already seem really impressed with it. Yarn #3 The shawl is gorgeous, but you could also make any lightweight wearable. Keep in mind that the linen should continue to soften with continued wear and washing, so the slight roughness that is in the new yarn should disappear. Enjoy! 🐞

Linen is frequently stiff, some might be due to the tightness of the ply (in spinning the yarn). I used some on a triangle loom to make a shawl. Found like my linen shirts once washed, blocked, edged appropriately, it is soft and drapey. Linen fabric tends to wrinkle easily and is a relaxed look, not as much of a problem with knits, not sure of crochet. Mine felt sort of stuff, try swatch and wash it, block if necessary. Alpaca is like a wool, follow washing instructions, light and warm, easy to wear against your skin. Makes lovely wearables. Like wool I would recommend blocking, standard when using natural fibers and knitting as it could curl. Watch YT for washing rolling natural fibers in towels, then blocking. Used frequently in knit laces to open up and make stitches more visible.

Hi Glenda I think that the Florence flax linen looks like something that my cat would search at as a search post lol. So have a good day but all of the anther yarn looks nice I would try the anther yarns but not the Florence flax linen if I got the flax linen yarn I would gave it to my cat to play with.
