Have you used something like that before? Definitely something I'd like to try! Thanks so much for watching!

I also have the 3F UL Gear frameless in the pro version, going to test out this year. I've been using the Toaks pot, it's solid. holy crap...moved from Utah to Virginia. That's a culture shock. What will you do for mountains?
@DoseofDirt2 жыл бұрын
Haha! Yes, a bit of a change from UT to VA! Where we lived was basically the same elevation as the highest peak in VA... But I'm not too far from Shenendoah and the AT, which give me my fix. But it's still nothing like the mountains in Utah. I'm heading back this fall for a 100 mile trip with my buddies. Hopefully I can breath after spending a year on the East coast at almost sea level! 😆

Hey Luis! Paria definitely has AMAZING customer service! I purchased a Recharge XL that seemed to have an issue, sent then an email from my personal account, and had a new pad show up 2 days later no questions asked. Definitely impressed with this company! I am liking the quilt so far! I feel like sometimes I have to move some of the down back to the middle of the baffles. Does that happen to you at all!

NICE! I love me a good Osprey Pack, as you problem know. Somehow I don't have an Atmos 65, but I've almost bought one several times. My good buddy has one and it is a solid pack. The AG on it is much better than the AG on my aether 70. And let's be honest, it's also just a good looking pack! Hammock camping sounds awesome! Hoping to try that at some point, but the gear fund, as you could guess based on this video, might be a bit dry at this point... 😆 Thanks for watching!

My new gear so far this year: - Alpaca fingerless gloves - Big Agnes Dirt Digger stakes - 1/8" foam pad from Outdoor Vitals - compression sack from Outdoor Vitals for my 0 degree quilt -light weight saw It's early in the year, there will probably be more.
@DoseofDirt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Garry! This list is dangerous for me because I want to get most of these items as well!! 😆 I've wanted to pick up some fingerless gloves, but just haven't yet. I keep making the ones I'm using limp along until they die. Would be interested to know what you think about your OV quilt! And I'm jealous of the saw. Moving from Utah recently, we never had fires when backpacking because the wild fire danger was always too high. But I'm realizing after moving to Virginia that I really need a saw so I can enjoy a nice fire at camp!

I started wearing the same toe socks in 2017 when I section hiked the sheltowee trace in KY and it’ll alleviate all blister problems for me. Since then I have kicked out all my other socks and wear these daily year-round
@DoseofDirt2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark! YES! A few months ago I donated almost all my other socks. I still have a few holdouts, but I have no idea why because I haven't warm them in at least 3 months. All toe socks all the time now for me! Seriously a game changer! I've tried a few budget ones. They are ok for around the house, but just don't hold up on the trail like Injinji! Thanks for watching!

@@DoseofDirt I totally laughed at one of my friends because while everyone was getting blisters on their heels etc. I told him my only issue is getting blisters between my toes so he suggested toe socks & totally remember saying yeah those are girls socks I’m not wearing them. So I secretly bought a pair and wore them on our next trip and to my amazement I never had a blister again even on 30-40 mile days. So I ditched all my expensive darn tough and smart wool socks and that is literally all I wear every day….. totally cannot recommend them enough

I am definitely getting the Paria bag! Been looking going to castle peak and the pacific crest trail already in the 20-30s at night. Last time I just froze so need something better. I’d love to get the pad next I like the look and size of it. The one I have I loose heat from. Also like how the sipper opens from the bottom and I can have my small dog climb in and even leave it open if he is warmer.
@DoseofDirt2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jessica! Yes! the quilt is great that it has an open bottom! And if you're thinking you may need it for even colder temps, a new quilt brand I've tried is Hammock Gear. It a little more, but you can get a zero degree quilt that opens at the bottom and can actually be customized in length, width, and even color! Like I said, the zero degree is a bit more, but if you're hitting temps colder than 20s it may be worth it! Love that you camp with your dogs! My huskies are the best heaters in winter backpacking! 😆

Happy new gear! New gear new...grind! Buddy, I got the same pot ::seth rogan stoner laugh:: I've got a perfectly fine titanium pot, a little smaller...but man...you dip your finger ONCE into boiling water cause it doesn't have handles and you were dumb...that's 1 time too many. SO here's to happy hands! I also got an inflatable klymit sit pad...which I think I'll try as a pillow. Either way it weighs 2.6oz, so it's not gonna be a burden if I don't use it. Very curious about the new shoes! You've got quite the collection to start burning through! On like a 10 mile loop I'll bring 2 pairs of shoes and swap them out half way...it's a real moral boost to slip your feet into a nice cool dry pair of shoes and finish the hike...especially on a multiday hike the benefit of havin a spare pair out weighs the extra pound-ish. Regarding toe socks. I LOVE them! Especially the liners, but I have an underpronation gait, so I wear out the outer heel and the inner toes of the shoes...becauae of this, sometimes that will cause the sock to twist around in my shoe, and cause this uncomfortable feeling around the root of my pinky toe cause the material is twisting around it. I need to fix that... I once had a pair of smart-wool toe socks, and one 9mile hike (2.8k elevation) wore away the ball of the foot on the socks, and my big toe broke through on the right foot. LOL Godspeed on all your new hikes! And your new life in a new state...hope alexa can keep you warm, LMAO!
@DoseofDirt2 жыл бұрын
😂😂 Yes, I definitely have some shoes to burn through. I probably need to swear off buying shoes for a while....NAH! I am interested to try out the LEMs as well. They are the last zero drop, wide toe box (there I go again...) trail runners I can find that aren't ultra minimalistic. So I may have to stop buying shoes whether I like it or not... I like the idea of using the inflatable sit pad to double as a pillow. I like 2 pillows anyway (one inflatable, one camp) so that might be a good idea forme! I picked up a cheap foam one to go with the frameless pack, so we'll see how that goes. And YES these toe socks are GAME CHANGERS. I actually only wear toe socks now. And I don't think I can ever go back. They are just so dang comfortable! That's crazy you wore right through some smart wool ones! I've been pleasantly surprised at Injinji's durability. We both know how a wolverine toe can wreak havoc on a pair of socks! ALEXA! 😆😆 That was so funny. I just couldn't bring myself to edit it out. Especially my wife's jab at me...
