Great video, now I have trekking pole holders for my Nero! BTW the link to the set you have linked on the toggles etc only have one size of the oblong toggles, when I first clicked on it it said item no longer available but there is a similar pack with only one size long toggles but several other sizes/shapes. Thanks !

2 things, first that music was way to fucking loud. Second while you are technically correct. Just because they are made out of the same material does that mean they are the same. Types of weaves and construction matter tremendously and can completely change something. And a side note I used that same scotch guard on a coat I had and it barely helped.

Neither of your budget tents are seam sealed which would have accounted for at least part of the failure in the rain tests (looks like I jumped the gun as you do cover this shortly after I wrote this). Tents with a more simple construction can be factory seam taped. Higher quality tents with more complex patterns will be manually seam sealed. This is most often done by the buyer (usually the tent purchase includes a tube of the correct seam sealing product). Sealing seams is mandatory. If you dont seal your seams and your tent leaks its not the tent that failed, its you who failed.... *Tip: You can use a syringe to apply the seam sealer in a thin bead along the rows of stitching too. Make sure to let it dry and set up to not be tacky for a sufficient amount of time (best done out of direct sunlight). You can alternatively sprinkle some foot powder or corn starch lightly over the seam sealer to coat it and keep it from sticking to the fabric (where you dont want it to) if you must rush this process.

Don’t think it’s a fair review. For example, why do you complain about it not having hip belt pockets… you knew that before you bought it. To me it seems stupid to complain about features on a bag and at the same time on multiple occasions state that the bag doesn’t meet your needs. No, it doesn’t, because the bag is designed to accommodate different needs. There is nothing wrong with the bag, you just bought the wrong one. Fine if the cons are based on reasonable facts like the lack of ways to strap a bottle in the side pocket but other than that, a review like this is useless to me.

I finally got out to try the Trekology mat, and am seriously disappointed. It's not comfortable at all. Felt like lying down in a bouncy castle. The material is similar in texture to the tent floor, so the thing slips about too. I went cheap, and got donkey ears. Amazon doesn't give me an option to return it, and trying to get a refund from the company is quite difficult. It took them 3 emails to ask "which product" (I told them in the beginning) "why do you want to return it?" and finally "Please take a photo of the mat". Like this channel, but not this product.

I've had one of these for about two years. The textured back kinda chafes, but I covered the parts that sat against my shoulder blades with some gaff tape. Also, on mine, the hip pockets can be removed. It just has some mega strong velcro holding them in. Good review.

Cheap gear has the tendency to fail in the backcountry, so you will be repurchasing it over and over. Save up, invest in high quality gear. Start with investing in good shoes, that’s most important. Stay away from packs that have a million pockets and zippers, you don’t need them and it’s just excess weight. And don’t EVER put your food in your tent bag, because you don’t want your tent to smell like food.

I have a Eureka Desert Canyon tent, I've had it for about 5 years now. I'm in the PNW and seem to get rain on every camping trip, last year it poured for 5 days almost non-stop, but the tent interior stayed totally dry. I always worry when it might start leaking though. I don't have a yard or a space I can set the tent up in, but might order the seam sealant and a spray and use them on my next camping trip, so long as it has a full dry day. I want my tent to last, especially since Eureka is shutting down. If I could afford it I would buy one of the updated versions of ny current tent for when it inevitably needs to be replaced.

Ive just bought a tent $70(Desert Fox lightweight 2 man), sleeping mat $30, headlamp $25, torch $9, air pillow $15 off Temu, all of reasonable quality for a total of $149, now if I was to buy the same gear from top brand names like LED Lensor, MSR etc, I calculated the cost to be around $1300!

The Sleepngo pad is hell for side sleepers. A good pad for side sleepers will have at least 3 inches of cushion. Also, the Sleepngo is just a re-label. The same pad can be found from other "labels" for less. Last, the amount of reviews a product has doesn't mean squat seeing how a company can hire marketing firms to leave 100's of fake positive reviews. In saying all that, I do appreciate your effort on delivering non-biased content.

I got very tired of spending top buck for tents even of quality that will leak and structurally fail. I Make my own. They are very light weight (made out of cotton bed sheets) and coated in silicone. I don't bother with grommets or other BS . Last a long time and if I have to reseal I can. other then that making a new one with the cost of about 30 USD...goes a ton longer

Mosquito net. My first aid kit doubles as an emergency kit so I keep other things in it. One of them is a mosquito net. I was glad to have it when I encountered thick black flies on the Sierra High Route. I also like to have a P38 can opener in there for can and just as a carry-on safe sharp object since I often go carry-on only.
