It's such a simple bass line, but it's a brilliant song. Early U2 music was superb.

So many of their early songs are just eight repeated notes on bass case in point; With or without you. It's really great for learning and I think that's what the band was doing in the early days learning and getting better and better. There was a quote from a journalist who saw their first performance; "The singer can't sing and the band can barely play, but they've got something" (my paraphrase of what he said)...

I always loved the bass in this song. I remember as a kid hearing this and wishing I was the one who played bass on it, haha!

I find the positioning of my head and neck and where I am looking is the hardest part of trying to be Adam Clayton.

This a perfect interpretation of this song. You could not have played it better. Thank you. I was in 2nd semester freshman year HS listening to this with my mates getting ready to go meet girls. Your fretting and notation are wonderful. Peace.

Tuning: 1/2 Step Down (Eb Ab Db Gb) Tuning details are listed in the upper-left hand corner of the video throughout the entire video. It's also listed in the description of the video.

Did you tune down a 1/2 step for this song?

yes I put the tuning in the video in the top-left corner and it's also in the description.
