New year's Eve celebrations ---P&O Ventura ---- Port of Amsterdam

We arrived in Amsterdam at approximately 7 am on New year's eve. we awoke to rain and strong winds . After breakfast and letting the rain subside we ventured in to the city . This was our first visit to this part of the world .
We decided to take a cruise on the canals , as if we hadn't seen enough water . it was a very enjoyable way to spend 50 minutes , with a very knowledgeable and amusing Skipper. After lunch we explored more of the city before returning to the Ship.
New year's eve began with a couple of drinks in one of the bars before heading for the main dining room for what turned out to be a lovely meal .
We then headed for the main atrium for the Silent Disco that turned out to be a lot of fun .
As midnight approached we headed for the top deck to see in the New Year accompanied by torrential rain and fireworks over the city. Then on to the Havana lounge for a bit more dancing , it was a great night.

That was our thoughts as well, we used to either go to somewhere local and put up with the inflated prices or stay at home and be in bed straight after midnight. Gone are the days when we would go to London, now it’s tickets only . So this cruise was a good idea , a few hiccups but it was certainly something different and we would do it again. 👋

We are just looking at the moment, I’ll be a pensioner next week so got to see how much we can afford once our money is sorted, I want to do the Caribbean one that you and pearl did, but my husband wants the med one, so that’s why I’m watching all the blogs on you tube and that’s how I found you and pearl. Also I don’t think you mentioned the drinks package it seems very expensive in my eyes not worth it. What do you think ? Anyhow love your vlogs you make me laugh both of you. 😆

@user-cs9bl7vu8u Hi Susan , hope you find something suitable. We wouldn’t get the drinks package on P&O . It’s a bit restrictive some drinks you can have some you can’t . Plus you normally get on board spending money when you book that you use onboard. We do get the package if we go on Princess cruises.

Pearl did look beautiful in her dress I must admit.Such a shame about your Granddaughters cruise and catching Covid. Hope she has recovered and it hasn’t put her off trying another cruise. Carnival own P&O cruises, P&O ferries are owned by a UAE based company and they were the ones who sacked all their crews. This has been well publicised and I am surprised anyone still gets mixed up.
