Merry Christmas Gary. I just took a look at my cauliflower and broccoli. I have several broccoli heads that are ready to harvest, and just in time for Christmas dinner. I have a couple heads that are still developing and need more time. The cauliflower needs another week, but will certainly be ready in time for New Years. I can harvest beets, carrots, and parsnips any time I like. That means... I've made it year round in zone 7a. If I can do it, anyone can. It is all about picking the right varieties, and being stubborn as hell.

I still have to put my garden "to bed". I plan to do that tomorrow. However, today I collected 8 bags of leaves at my mom and dad's to add to my new compost bin. Excited for the 2025 growing season. I always learn something new from you and the beard is a great look for you.!

Merry Christmas Gary, Long time follower first time commenting. Prompted by that outstanding beard for 2025:) I have learned a lot and recommended you many times to fellow gardeners. Thank you for being the master/mentor teacher that you are. Particularly enjoy the style. It was a couple of years before I even knew what you looked like as the focus was always on the garden task and the lesson with your calm voice narrating. The lessons are universal to all zones even in deep southeast Texas. I have had to grow different varieties, and that is the fun, new gardeners, always learning and adapting your garden to suit your climate and soil. Pay attention, Gary's advice is Gold. And yes he taught me everything about growing and transplanting from seeds. This gives you the ability to grow varieties not available locally and you save a ton of money past the initial investment in grow light set up. Look forward to starting 2025 with your lessons. And you can always pick up on something new by watching the sensei do something you though you already knew.

I started gardening during covid with just a few containers and my garden has grown year after year! Each year I add something new to my gardening skill set...vermicomposting, growing different veggies, cover cropping, winterizing, etc. Gardening is like one science experiment after another and I just love it! :)

New gardeners down here in southern AZ. In the 70s today, we are growing lettuces now. Still not certain of the planting seasons here, originally from your area. But following your channel recently an learning a ton. Composting is tough- no real leaves or grass. But the horse and livestock community provides…. We are hoping to build an edible landscape and will be tuning in. I am subscribed to only one KZbin channel. I’m picky. And it’s this one. Merry Christmas and look forward to 2025 with your help.

It felt like you were talking to me when you said to get healthy. This is exactly why I decided to start gardening this upcoming year, even though I can only grow mint (which I dumbly threw into the garden plot). Cheers to everyone choosing to go on this journey together.

Very pertinent I believe everyone should be moving toward Victory Gardens. I'll be growing indoors under lights because I rent. I'm excited about this new growing experience as I've always been a grower of ornamentals.

I'm in MD, 7b. My 3rd year having a garden. I'm growing lots of perennial vegetables (kale, asparagus, radish), figs, fruit (peaches, apples, pomengranates, cherries, pawpaw, currant, blueberries, blackberries, grapes). My problem is it's difficult to fit everything into the garden without out shading other plants or causing a messy or jungle like view. How do you get your vining plants to be so neat or how to build simple trellis with no tools? I also would like some ideas of how to fit large trees in your garden. I love your videos and I would love to see monthly tours of the whole garden just to get more inspiration and see what's growing.
