Prachuap Khiri Khan ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ is a town in southern Thailand. It is the capital of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and is on the coast at one of the narrowest stretches in Thailand, only 10 kilometres from the border with Myanmar at Dan Sing Khon in the Tenasserim Hills. The area has large pineapple and coconut industries, in addition to being popular with Thai tourists. The town is about 300 km south of Bangkok by road.
Prachuap Khiri Khan is home to a Royal Thai Air Force base, and was an invasion point for Japanese troops on 8 December 1941, during World War II. A commemoration is held each December to honor the 38 Thai airmen and civilians who died in the fighting against the Japanese 143rd Infantry Regiment in the Battle of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
In this video we explore the harbor area along with the night market and pier on New Year’s Eve the market has a seemingly endless supply of street food and snacks the harbor provides some amazing views of the ocean and the town see how the locals spend a quite New Year’s Eve without the fireworks and big crowds of Bangkok.
Enjoy the video!

I really enjoy this town. The market and harbor area are great. Another thing to see is the beaches. The best one is Ao Manow. Here is the video of it if you want to see. Ao Manao Beach อ่าวมะนาว - Best Beach in Prachuap Khiri Khan - Thailand kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4Dcl4iwbLyWgqc

It’s very nice. It’s not super crowded. I leave Bangkok now for new years in order to avoid the crowds. Here it’s more for families to walk around and enjoy the evening. A great time.

You will have a great time in October. You will be right at the end of the rainy season so expect a bit of rain, usually in the afternoon but sometimes it’s a bit more. Even with a bit of the wet stuff it’s still a great part of Thailand. I didn’t stop in Chumphon on this trip (never enough time since I had to be back to work in Bangkok) I have made a few videos of there also but was last year. The beaches are still the same though if you want to check out the playlist I made. Do you mean Khao Lak? If so you will really enjoy it there. I don’t know which I like more Khao Lak or Koh Lanta. Can’t go wrong with any of them though.

Like your video showing lots yummy Thai foods. Would love to see more dessert types on the Thai side. Since this PKK is a coastal town perhaps you could show us the seafood from the market or when the fishing boats come in.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Showing the fishing boats is a great idea. I will have to do that on my next trip through there. We stopped there just to spend new years in the town on our way back to Bangkok. I usually show a bit more of the Thai deserts since they are my favorite and will do a better job next time. Appreciate the suggestions and the view. Have a happy new year!

Thanks for bringing New Year’s Eve in PKK home to us here in the states; looks like a beautiful, laid back setting…. the kind of environment my wife and I love! As I wrote earlier, we’ll be there in a couple of weeks, God willing if everything goes as planned. What would you recommend for transportation options? Our main interest initially will be to get to Ao Manao and then up to the state park area on the other end of the 3 bays. We’ll be staying at the Prachuap Beach hotel for 2 weeks before heading up to the Sea Condominium in Sam Roi Yot; I don’t have a motorcycle license, but I do have a valid drivers license and international license; we would also be interested in some good bicycles! Happy New Year!

The place is really laid back. It’s one of my favorite towns in Thailand. The people are nice, it’s not crowded like Hua Hin and the food is good. I’m sure you will have a great time. Everything in the area is a bit spread out. You can hire out the motorcycle with sidecar but it is a bit of a pain because you will always have to be getting in touch with the driver when you want to go anywhere like the national park. If you don’t have a motorcycle license you run the risk of getting stopped and fined 500-1,000 Baht. What I would recommend is to rent a car at the airport in Bangkok and then driving down. You can find something from Avis for 600-750 a day for a small Toyota or something like that. From there you can drive through the national park and all around the area. You are out of the rain and heat as well. The only thing with that is you have to drive on the left side of the road (as well as the right side of the car) like in the UK. For me it’s no big deal since I’ve been doing it for about 15 years here in Thailand. I haven’t seen any bicycle rentals in PKK but I’m sure they are there. I just have never looked for them since I’m either driving a car or on the motorcycle. I really prefer motorcycles since you can park easy and get around traffic on them easy but the wife prefers the comfort of the car. Lol
