I remember driving through there, so different from our roads in Houston.
@Freewayjim4 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, VERY different, mainly because Houston is a newer city and most of the roads in NYC were done by the early-mid 1960s and have not been upgraded since. Also, Houston has a lot of land to sprawl, not the case in NYC.

2:42 What I don't get is how come the link to the 295 Throgs Neck Bridge from the 95 Bruckner Expressway with no exit or entrance between is 695, while in Maryland, the link to the 270 Montgomery County Expressway from the 495 Capital Beltway with one interchange at Democracy Boulevard in between is SPUR-270? Why not SPUR-295 instead?
@bxdanny5 жыл бұрын
Originally, what is now I-695 (NY) was signed as I-295, and so was the other link to the Throgs Neck Bridge. Someone eventually realized that didn't make sense, and had it signed as 695 instead. It was an "unofficial" designation for a number of years, but AASHTO (?) eventually accepted it as official.

The other queston is on I-95 from Rt-128 in Canton to the GW bridge carry alot of Comerical traffic and long distence travelers heading to points south like Washington,Miami by i-95 or even west through Pitsburg, St louis Demver and even Los Angelas, I hered rummers that I-95 from Rt-128 to GW bridge is the most heavly travled route from Boston to Holltwood becasue Lots of traffic uses I-95 from Boston to NJ turnpike then to PA turnpike
@pxl711 жыл бұрын
nice music! Top Video :-)

a 3rd queston Do u believe the best route from Boston to Hollywood is I-95 from New England through the GW bridge to NJ turnpike to PA turnpike then to I-70 west to I-44 south
@Freewayjim11 жыл бұрын
I don't know about all that, I'd doubt it. Most Boston to NYC traffic uses I-90W to I-84W to I-684S or I-91S to I-95
@rev4life0311 жыл бұрын
ughh almost makes me dread driving in NYC. Had to take the big brother to La Guardia airport from up north. Took I-87 South from Newburgh to I-278 and the the Grand Central Parkway. Then the same way back. Beautiful city, dreadful driving.
@bxdanny5 жыл бұрын
At the beginning of the trip, there is the caption "New England Thruway Mile 15". That's wrong. The NET runs from around Pelham Parkway to the Connecticut state line, and is 15 miles long all together. Maybe the point the video starts was thought to be about total mile 15 of I-95 in New York, but the road is not signed that way.
@Freewayjim5 жыл бұрын
I took the mile marker from Wikipedia so yeah It was for I-95, I was just identifying the road as the New England Thruway but I see how that can be taken differently than intended.

We statred to use I-84 to go to Boston now instead because of the traffic on I-95 and a lot of expensive tools to pay
@Freewayjim11 жыл бұрын
No, I'd say I-90 West to I-80 West to I-76 West to I-70 West to I-15 South to I-10 West. More tolls but less traffic congestion.
@jhuang2306 жыл бұрын
Freewayjim I would take I-90 West, I-84 West, I-81 South, I-40 West, I-15 South, I-10 West. Tolls only in small stretch of Mass Turnpike and fewer snow in the winter. Passing through the northern tier is costly because of tolls, big city traffic and expensive hotels if you have to break at Ohio and Chicago. I would steer people to I-81/I-40 combo for people from the northeast to points southwest, since it runs diagonally. It also has less traffic than I-70 east of the Mississippi.

Yes, $8.50. If you have E-Z Pass (issued in NY), you get a discount to $5.76. Toll on the Verrazzano is collected one way only for the round trip, so it is $17.00 ($11.52 with NY E-ZPass). To think that when the Triboro Bridge opened in the 1930s (and into the 1960s), the toll was 25 cents.
