When I first moved to New York, I had a little studio apartment on Greenwich Street, 5 steps away from the entrance of Rector Street Station. It was a great place to live and I've always regretted moving away from that apartment. Lower Manhattan contains so many memories for me. Thank you for showing a part of it to me today, Renata. What is a good time of day to do the Staten Island Ferry?

I would suggest sometime in the morning when the sunshine is shining from the same angle as the boat. Midday the sun is on top of the statue and later afternoon/evening it is behind. Lighting will obscure the features/face. Having said that, once you have a well lit statue from the morning, I would visit for the sun down. That would be awesome. Look on you phone for when sunset is and take the boat at that time and you should be getting amazing colors.

The Statue of Liberty is not in lower Manhattan. It is not in any part of Manhattan - in fact it is not even in New York State. The SOL is in Jersey City, New Jersey. Oh, and BTW, so is Ellis Island.

We did a similar trip. From midtown, we took the subway to Wall Street, saw Federal Building, NY Stock Exchange, Amazing architecture. Then short walk to charging bull and another to 911 memorial and One World. Impressive. Subway to South Ferry. Snack attack at Battery Park before Statue Cruise (much better than free Staten Island Ferry). Take lots of water if you are as insane as we are to do this in July. Despite the heat, this was one of the best days of our trip.

I love your videos with great details on how to go places. We plan to visit from July 6-8 and stay in Queens very close to JFK which take like 1 hour by metro to get to Manhattan. We plan to take metro and Airtrain. On July 7, we will take train to Boston. Our first visit to NYC and Boston. Right now air fares are pretty expensive.

Thanks for video Btw I’m from Bakersfield California and in 2027 I’ll be visiting the big apple for the first time during Halloween time and I truly can’t wait , I’ll be going with my best bud that I’ve been friends with since the 3rd grade we’re both 24 now so this trip will be big for me and my friend … Also thanks for the heads up on scammers , i recently visited Las Vegas and it normal to see Ubers etc and taxis waiting outside casinos for you … But I’m sure in New York it’s completely different illl be on the look out for it because i definitely don’t want to be mugged nor scammed ..

Hello and thanks for watching. The ferry is between lower Manhattan and Staten Island. It only passes the Statue of Liberty. To get to the statue you would take a different boat, paid tour. Two 25 years olds will be fine in NYC. Have you been to LA or SFO, no different. Exciting trip for you guys, you will enjoy a lot.
