I am 60 years old and in many ways have had a hard life. However, the 1990's were definitely a better decade for me and for everyone I believe. It was a more hopeful optimistic period of time. The Cold War was over and all the problems of war and climate change and growing dystopia in politics and with new, untried high technology were not even on most people's radar. The 90's are the good old days in my book. My best decade for certain. Things really started going downhill after 9/11 2001. That is when the golden age ended.

I’d finished grad school a few years before ‘95 and was a few years into a career that lasted until 2017 when mental health struggles forced me to retire early. Rather than stressing me out and contributing to my mental health struggles, I feel nyc kept me going and held me up through my struggles. Professional life in nyc from the 90’s-pre pandemic was magical. I’d give anything to turn the clock back 30 years and do it again.

9/11 literally changed America. We've never been the same since on a cultural or emotional level. The division started after that day, as did the hate, and disunity. It's been almost two decades, and we've still not recovered from that horrific day.

I'm now 47....wow time goes by in the blink of an eye. But I will tell people, I lived in Manhattan in my 20s and that is the time to do it, if you are ever going to! Hard to believe the 1995-96 RTS's lasted the longest of the RTS's we had. #8750-#9349 alone were in service for 22 years (the last ones retiring in December 2018)!
