I really love how the streets in 1996 have a mashup of a bunch of 70's/80's cars with a bunch of cars that were brand new at the time. That’s incredible. And also, I can tell that those Caprice and LTD Crown Victoria taxi cabs (and some aerobody Crown Vics and some round Caprices) were already starting to get pretty old at the time by the rust and the dents they have on them. I think it was because they were using them for a very long time and they were starting to fade away.

this is amazing. just raw and candid footage of a time when TV was still TV, and the internet was just beginning to get big. having to switch your compact cassette or compact disk on your device (which required batteries) to listen to your desired music. staring at your or someone else towel on a towel rail (or at a stall door in a public restroom) when you took a shit. looking in the yellow pages for contacts to companies, and kids still playing with toys. I just wonder what was going through these people heads on the day this was recorded.

I am only 12 Years old , born in 2007. Today's time as I can see, is not as colorful as it was back then. A time , when communications and relationships were significant parts of peoples' ordinary life. Today's technology has driven us to a chaotic limbo and it in it's own way makes us lose control on our feelings, relationships and sense of being. Back then communications were ok an.. people around with cellphones but not glued on commercially addictive devices. They moved their heads around , exploring an the surroundings of their unique life. I do that too, but sometimes everything seems colorful from the outside but dead inside.

Overall I think the world should have "stopped" in 1995 which in my opinion was the pinnacle of human civilization (notoriously Europe) If the world "stopped" in 2005, although human civilization had already lost that 90's aura, I think it would have a way to "get back on track" and become a kind of "different 90's" (until 2005 it was a transition period) But after 2005 human civilization took an irreversible path to its destruction.

In this vid you don't see that many 1994 Caprices. Mostly 1990 though 1993. This was filmed before giuliani made it mandatory a brand new car hack up and a 3 year corporate and 5 year private retirement policy. At that time many if not most of the cabs were used police cars. Oh boy, and were those babies fast!!!
@albundy11047 жыл бұрын
I took my time and counted. Through out the entire video I only counted 10 Chevy Caprice 1994~1996 model year (they were the same and actually last years of Caprice Classic ever made). All the rest of the cabs in the vid were either older versions of Caprice or Crown Victorias. Til this day I think Crown Vic was the best cab, from the driver's stand point. But Caprice was cheaper, and most taxi fleets used them. It could have been me driving one of those cabs zooming by ;) ...

From upstate, went down in ‘18. Sitting on the train and i overheard these 3 girls saying how “they’re so New York” I chuckled and the one said excuse me??? I’m like you’re so NY huh? You scream mid west to me. Just because you moved here 3 years ago doesn’t make you “so NY” she got defensive and started making insults, but the fine authentic gentlemen and women of NY had my back and let them know they are NOT NY! And me being from upstate are more welcomed than them.

I am not NY but I love the city. I am LA and it really surprised me when I actually got to NYC how much I loved it. I was really proud once when a cab driver asked me which way was the best route so I guess I learned how to look NY. When I wear my NYU t-shirt people even ask me for directions. Unfortunately though it turns out both of my daughter's hate NYC. Maybe I pushed too hard when they were young or my oldest spent too much time in Jersey.
