New York City's 120-Year-Old Bridge Stuck Open Due To Overheating Amid Record-Breaking US Heatwave
United States' Third Avenue Bridge, which crosses the Harlem River between the Bronx and Manhattan, has responded after it had gotten stuck open due to overheating. Most of the metal on the 120-year-old structure was swollen from the high temperatures, which reached the 90-degree mark on July 8
Crews on boats spent hours spraying water onto the bridge to cool the metal so they could realign it with the road deck. This led to major traffic jam on both the sides of the bridge.

Water the whole bridge not just the ends. The expansion happens across the entire structure.

@@scottwood928I think there was a few days of heat but nothing out of the normal for June - July. Google says it's 83 RN with 20mph winds and a high of 80 for Friday... There have been plenty of triple digit days in the past.

This is the tip of the iceberg. Every year will be colder than the next.

@@DLWELD because the bridge is 120 years old and has been through a lot worse temperatures than what's going on right now this is all being blown out of proportion. Even the creator of The Weather Channel said climate change is nothing more than complete bulshit. It's made up. If you pass a law that says you cannot tax climate change it will go away overnight. This is something here does it heats up cools down for billions of years man has nothing to do with it nor will he be able to slow it down or stop it
