This is a video walking tour of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. The memorial opened on September 11, 2011, and the museum opened on May 21, 2014. The memorial consists of a field of swamp white oak trees and two large, recessed pools, the footprints of the Twin Towers. The trees are arranged in rows and form informal clusters, clearings, and groves. The park is at street level, above the museum. The names of the victims are inscribed on the parapets surrounding the waterfalls. The museum collection includes more than 40,000 images, 14,000 artifacts, more than 3,500 oral recordings, and over 500 hours of video. Some of the artifacts include steel beams, damaged fire trucks, parts of the hijacked planes, and victims' personal effects. Thanks for watching! Please Like, Share, and Subscribe!

@@GentleGypsy Last time I was there was in 2002. they had a fence around where the towers had stood. for some reason I remember some excavating equipment at the bottom. no clue what they were re-building, if anything. I was only there because I had met some friends who were from Maryland and they were in the city for a couple of days on some sort of business, so we met for dinner and then one of them suggested we all went downtown. there was other people there, but all I remember is how quiet everyone was. guess that, even a year later and it still didn't seem real

Every time I pass by the memorial/site it always amazes me how I’m literally standing where two gigantic skyscrapers once stood.

I agree. It's strange to look straight up and imagine them stretching out into the sky. It's hard to believe that it all came down so quickly. Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you!

It's insane to imagine that when you're standing beside the fountains you're standing where those poor brave souls had to fall to their death.

I always thought it would be interesting if they played the original WTC plaza music at the pools, while I respect that it is a place of peace and somberness, those original songs would be interesting to hear there as they were so peaceful

@@NorthCdogg22 And they should give back the Koenig Sphere Right where it was Positioned, Now would be in the middle of Greenwich St. ! Because it's Kind of Disrespectful to have Cut through the Plaza and Basically right where the Sphere Fountain was like they did !?

Great question! There were some firemen, policemen, and some important-looking fellows. One of them was shaking the hands of the musicians--maybe it was some celebrity that I don't know about? A family member of one of the victims? Either way, I'm glad I stumbled upon it.

I find it Disrespectful unfortunately how they Still built Random Buildings that Represent Nothing of what was There ! What about St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church that got Flattened, or The Huge North Bridge that connected Financial Center to WTC, or the Deutsche Bank Building? Nevermind the Original 5 other Buildings !? It's miraculous the Sphere Survived and Is a True Testament And Sign, Also the Winter Garden and other surrounding Structures Amen
